  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
I wouldn't be surprised if  GSW were trying to get JSmoove  or Iggy because they aren't trying to trade Bogut.

Obviously getting something rather than nothing is preferable but if the lakers do a S&T I think they come off looking really bad.  Not only do they lose a major free agent but they also flip on their earlier refusal to do a sign and trade.  I can't help but believe that stance was just laker arrogance refusing to believe any free agent would dare walk away.

GSW signing Andre Iguodala to a large contract would be a really bad idea.

They need to stick with Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes. Those two guys are very talented. They need to be given time and opportunities to grow and to flourish. Bringing in Iggy will slow their development + create cap problems down the road. It would be one of those short-sighted decisions that hurts a team in the long run.

I would rather see GSW bring back Jarrett Jack and Carl Landry than sign Iguodala.

I agree on Iggy.  I don't think it will be log before Barnes is as good as him.

I think they'd like to keep Landry, but the most they can offer him is $4.8 mil, which is less than even the mid-level.  If they shed salary, they can add another 350k to his offer to get it up to the mid-level, but he could be difficult to keep.

It came across to me as a standard negotiating tactic.  If the Lakers let it be known they are amenable to a S&T, then teams without cap space start bidding for Dwight.  That just makes it harder for the Lakers to retain him.

They'd come off looking arrogant if they stick to their stance even if a deal would be beneficial compared to letting Howard walk for nothing.  Dan Gilbert said he would never S&T Lebron James, but the Cavs came off their high horse and got back some draft picks because, at the end of the day, they weren't going to be that stupid.
