eja117, role-players are supposed to fill roles. While in a vacuum Robinson is a better player than House and for some teams he'd be a better player, I don't think the Cs are one of those teams, because House is, by far, a better shooter on the catch. Robinson's skills would be redundant in this team: he's certainly a better shot-creator than House, but the Celtics have like 5 players that are better than Robinson. If you're asking Robinson to do what House does - play off-the-ball, the 1-3 ballscreen, shoot, spread the floor, guard the opponent PG - then I'd rather have House, because he does those things better or at least as well as Robinson. I mean, do you want Robinson controlling the ball and Pierce on the corner waiting for a shot? Is that better than Pierce controlling the ball and House spreading the floor and waiting for a kick-out? No, it isn't.

One problem with Eddie on this team is precisely his off-the-ball skillset.  We have an older team with one truly effective dribble-drive playmaker (Rondo) who happens to play the exact same position as House.  House is at his best with a guy like Rondo, but his basic role on this team is to spell Rondo.

Unless you have a big passing guard that allows House to masquerade as a 2, House will always be a square peg in a round hole as a primary back-up.

Right now, either Eddie has to play the 1, a role in which he typically struggles, as he can't create his own shot and takes an eternity to get the offense set up, or one of Pierce, TA, Ray or Quis does.  That's not a strength for a single one of those players (Ray's probably the best option, which might be why the bench works so well with him).  Just look at their career assist/to ratios.

If we brought in Nate Robinson, he'd be a better PG (if PG skills are defined as speedy ball-handling, shot-creating and passing without turning it over) than anyone on the team not named Rondo.  Throw in his solid rebounding and you'd have a clear upgrade to the position.

That is of course assuming he wouldn't pick fights in the locker room, instigate brawls and cause the implosion of the team.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I'm not a fan of Nate Robinson. I think he is way to "me" oriented to be the type of PG that this team needs. Could he beat Eddie House in a game of one on one? Most probably 90 times out of 100. Does that make him a better fit for this team than Eddie House, especially if House remains with the team? Not even close.

The players that Robinson would be playing with most often on this team are shooters and scorers. What this team needs if Eddie House remains with the team is a taller, longer PG with decent on the ball defensive skill and the ability to run a set offense. A player in the mold of Steve Blake or Kirk Hinrich or even Eric Maynor would be a much better addition to this team than Nate Robinson.

Besides, I just don't see him as having that unbuntu type attitude. Nor do I think he could ever develop one.

bottom line in tonights game (vs. Warriors) is the reason I lobby for a guy like Nate Robinson (a scorer, creator of own shot, long distance shooter, ball handler and attention grabber.) to be on this team. Tonights lost was clearly because we didn't have Paul Pierce (a scorer, creator of own shot, long distance shooter, ball handler and attention grabber.). Ray Allen is no longer a scorer, but a shooter. He's a bigger version of Eddie House (Pure shooter, needs plays to be ran and picks to be set, not a very good ball handler, nor setup guy, when under major defensive pressure  is when he's forced to put the ball on floor to try and create his own shot). We simply could not win tonights game (not with the line ups Doc inserted).

Warriors Defensive strategy
Starters:
KG = Front & Double Team
Perk = Double Team if needed
TA = Let him shoot, back off a couple of feet and play him for the drive.
Ray Allen = Fight through picks and try to stay glued. Do not help off him.
Rondo = Let him shoot, back off a couple of feet and play him for the drive.

With all that said.... A offensive minded team like the warriors will look like a defensive minded team, forcing 26 turnovers, because the line up we have automatically helps them defensively. lol there was a point in the game Doc had Kg, RR, KP, EH, and TA in the game...SMH! Thats is the ultimate worse line up. TA can't shoot, Rondo, Won't shoot, House won't be left open (if so he's too short to get a good look in the nano sec he has, and he can't create his own shot by dribbling, so that eliminates his being on the court as a threat), Perk will stay close to the basket and so will KG (basically cancelling each other out offensively)...lol i'm going to bed... C's need help or a minor configuration of the line ups Doc inserts (like testing out the young guys Lester, or Bill Walker).

Do you watch this team play?  KG very rarely stays close to the basket on offense.  Perk is frequently away from the basket setting (moving) picks, even though he isn't going to score out there.  Ray and Eddie run their men through screens all night.  Rondo has really started taking those jumpers.  You're right that TA doesn't shoot - and that isn't his role.  He moves off the ball and cuts to the basket for points.

You're treating this team like it plays five games of one-on-one, instead of playing team basketball.  When the Celtics follow the gameplan, it's absolutely nothing like that.
