I've given Tony 2 strikes.
If he can't go another season without injuries, I'll be happy with him off our team.  I still think he deserves 1 more chance though.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Tony should be a non factor this year. Either he is traded this summer or at the trade deadline or he just plainly doesn't get many minutes this year.

I think Tony is terribly frustrating most of the times. When he was healthy I just wondered what kind of player would he be if he made better decisions on the court. After he got hurt he struggled to be the player he was, but that shouldn't have been the final goal since he had many things to improve when he was healthy. He is not a passer, he lacks the 3 and he is slightly undersized to guard the SF's. I would give him a chance if this team had some time, but our championship window of chance is so reduced that i believe we can't afford to wait on Tony Allen.

Just for a little outside the forum props to TA, Charley Rosen at FoxSports has this to say about Tony in a recent column Who are the NBA's tough guys and softies?:

"Tony Allen: Getting to the basket is his specialty, even at the potential cost of incurring bruises, sprains and even fractures."

Yeah, Tony makes the list of tough guys -- along with our own Beast!

I'm going to give him some respect:
if tony can come in and know his job, slashing, defending and not turning the ball over he'll be fine
we can't dump him for nothing just to get rid of him UNLESS giddens, walker and daniels show they are far bettter (at least 2)
tony's game is confidence, he has to come in like eddie and be confident as a player, when he doesn't think about things he's fine
he can't help that he's a 6'4" sf
take cooz's advice 2 dribble drives only!

Five former or current Celtics on the list!! Makes me proud to be a Celtic fan.

Though Tony's inclusion is a head scratcher. I would call him more reckless and dumb than tough, but I guess different people see things differently.

You haven't seen Tony on the streets of Chicago.  I think both "tough" and "stupid" are fair descriptors.

Yeah, I was proud of our boys too.  People get on Rosen's case, but he's helped me learn to see the game better and enjoy watching NBA even more.  He also seems pretty objective.  So while I'm surprised that Tony made the list, I don't think it was because Ainge asked for help raising Tony's trade value.

I keep hoping TA will put it back together.  As it is, I think those demanding we trade TA should show a little more subtlety, like vociferously demanding all over Celticsblog that Ainge make some deals to get Tony some help on the court!!!

I used to be fine with Rosen, but honestly, anybody who puts Garnett on his overrated list doesn't hold much water with me.

As for Tony, getting to the basket is his "specialty"? I get that that's what he tries to do since he can't shoot from the outside at all and doesn't know how to pass, but I wouldn't call it a specialty. Shouldn't he get to the line a bunch and, you know, finish if he is a specialist at getting to the basket?

I will give blame for that to his injuries, though. Since the surgeries, he just can't elevate to finish, which puts him in no-man's land offensively - can't shoot, can't finish, not a good passer, doesn't get calls. And unfortunately I don't think he's smart enough to realize he now has limited ability to get up and finish and adjust his game accordingly by learning how to shoot, dribble or pass well.
Go Celtics.

True. I'd make sure he was without his posse before I questioned his toughness...

Tony has everything against him and one thing going for him; ability to get to the rim

it's so good that despite his short comings everywhere else, he's still an NBA player.  it's amazing, not that he's a NBA player, he deserves to be one, but that he's getting by on basically one skill set
