I've been pushing hard for Monroe for months.  This team needs talent.  Even if it isn't a game changer, the Celtics need different types of chips in their repertoire other than draft picks and Monroe presents that.  Oh yeah, and he can actually play basketball.

Harris, I am not a fan.  In fact, I'll admit this right now - I'd be a little underwhelmed if he's the only signing to go along with roster-filling moves in late July-August.  I just feel he's another Jeff Green in the sense that he's the classic "do-everything-ok-but-nothing-great" kind of guy as you can't count on him night in and night out.  Just from my own selfish standpoint of watching the Celtics, I really don't think I can deal with that kind of inconsistency from a player again.

I'm not the biggest fan of Harris, but it's not for the same reason. I really dislike his defense, but I'm open to him potentially becoming better in that area of the game under Stevens and with guys like Smart, Bradley, and Crowder around. I wouldn't be so quick to call him Jeff Green from an offensive standpoint, however. Harris is significantly more versatile on the offensive end. Green was simply a transition player, spot up 3 point shooter, and single line drive half court rusher. He had three offensive "moves." Harris is far more skilled comparatively speaking and can score from more areas on the court in varying sets.

if danny pulled that of, it would be great. i loved Harris since his rookie season, playing against paul pierce, he really impressed me, and has been growing as a player ever since, i think we would have a breakout season with us, borderline all star.
i wouldn't give up on hibbert just jet, but i always loved Monroe, a old school post player
and to answer your topic name question, given that we would be healthy, no doubt that is a 48-52 win team.

I wouldn't mind Harris if it was Harris AND Monroe providing they can shuffle more contracts around to open up more salary space.  If this off-season was the draft they had, using the max on Harris and then maybe a trade or two to add shape to the roster, even I must admit I'd be slightly let down.  While this is not a make-or-break off-season and I urge patience and striking when the time is right more than anyone, I do think there is value both on building off some of the positive momentum and energy from last year.

I think I agree, particularly if the C's continue to develop competent perimeter defenders.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

It's a massive talent upgrade and we already won 40 games this year. Why wouldn't it?

I understand these aren't the guys who will win you a title, but if tanking isn't an option than we need to become an attractive free agent destination that's "one piece away" from being a contender. A young, 50-win team would be exactly that kind of place.

We should be making the full-court press for both of these guys.

I'd even consider trading james young with bradley to do that. Maybe even sully too.  I think all those guys would be on the table. If we can rid ourselves of gerald wallace of course.

I think everyone is on the table at this point.

I'd more consider trading them.  Not sure I would but harris and monroe are not bad.   they aren't necessarily better than sully, bradley and james young. But on this roster would make some sense.  I think in general here and in lala land(the internet and fandom) people undervalue our own players and are way too trade  happy, when that's not what basketball or building a team is about.

You would even "consider" trading James Young? Really? I would give him away for a rack of basketballs. He is terrible. Can't shoot in the NBA 2-pt or 3-pt FG, can't shoot free throws, can't get his own shot, can't rebound, can't play defense. I am amazed by the people that are drinking the koolaid thinking this kid is good. He is NOT. I doubt he is in the NBA after this year. Hopefully he has a college education that he can use. He seems like a nice kid but he is NOT an NBA player. I'm not sure how many years we are supposed to wait until the kid finally can become a role player.

He was the second youngest player in the NBA last year and was severely behind training schedule due to a car accident while taking a cab to the airport. He would have been the 8th youngest player in the draft THIS year. Last year should not be taken as evidence of anything regarding his potential or future.

That isn't to say that he's some untouchable asset destined for stardom, but give the kid a break.

Jame Young is only 20 years old, and has time...many questioned his work ethics, but if recent articles are right, he packed 15 lbs of muscle and added 3 inch to his vertical. That may not relate to him getting better at basketball, but it does help him overall in some aspects. Like defending bigger shooting guards. He's more explosive now, so hopefully that helps him attack the rim more.

Young is a project and if he continues to work hard, I'm sure he'll find minutes this year around 5-10 mark. Not much but that's a start, better than not playing at all last year. His development will take some time
