I'd even consider trading james young with bradley to do that. Maybe even sully too.  I think all those guys would be on the table. If we can rid ourselves of gerald wallace of course.

I think everyone is on the table at this point.

I'd more consider trading them.  Not sure I would but harris and monroe are not bad.   they aren't necessarily better than sully, bradley and james young. But on this roster would make some sense.  I think in general here and in lala land(the internet and fandom) people undervalue our own players and are way too trade  happy, when that's not what basketball or building a team is about.

You would even "consider" trading James Young? Really? I would give him away for a rack of basketballs. He is terrible. Can't shoot in the NBA 2-pt or 3-pt FG, can't shoot free throws, can't get his own shot, can't rebound, can't play defense. I am amazed by the people that are drinking the koolaid thinking this kid is good. He is NOT. I doubt he is in the NBA after this year. Hopefully he has a college education that he can use. He seems like a nice kid but he is NOT an NBA player. I'm not sure how many years we are supposed to wait until the kid finally can become a role player.

He was 19. He had a horrible start to the season due to injuries, and was behind. Watching some of the D-League games, you could see some flashes, he CAN shoot, go right? No, but he can get a shot off fast.

The only kind of players that produce in the NBA are the Lebron,Kobe,KG types, he's probably not one of those, but if he's a Klay Thompson type, I'd take that every day at the 22 pick. Also remember how horrible AB was? No he's a pretty decent player. If he could put up the same numbers(not including the steels) I think the most of us would be pretty happy.

Young also said he never really worked out. And now he's doing it, and has added 15lbs and in creased his vet 3 inches and added quickness and strength which will help on the defensive end. He's also working on his weakness's. He didn't like sitting on the bench and now he's working at staying off of it. Thats a good thing.

Stevens has said a few times that Young at times has been the best player in practice, he just needs the confidence to do it a game. I'd give this kid two more years before saying he's terrible. I know patience isn't the biggest quality of most C fans, but thats what you get when you draft a then 18 year old prospect, waiting period to see if it clicks.

Harris and Monroe sounds good.  Then do what it takes to pry Noel and let's start the season.  Doesn't even matter to me who's left over, it'll at least help me forget about Thursday.

I hope you are right. So it's been 2 years already so we give him another 2 years to see if he develops and then we see if he stays. I don't mean to keep putting the kid down and I would LOVE for him to succeed but everyone on these forums act as if he is an untouchable  future star when he has not even given us a glimpse of that at any point while playing in the NBA. I have seen every game and I see nothing. I don't watch Red Claw games and don't really care how impressive anyone in that league is until he can do it in the real big time. Great practice players are great to prepare the real players for the game.

I actually said I'd consider moving him. I'm not sold on him although he has some upside.  He was a rookie last year though and barely played.   My only point was Sully, Bradley and Young for Monroe and Harris is a closer deal than people might think.  For the same reasons because peopel act like our players suck and other players are superstars.  That's not really the case here.  If I had to decide not sure who I'd take in that deal.  On the surface so far in their careers Harris and Monroe win but that doesn't mean I'd do it.  I don't think it's worth it in ways.

I think we will probably get the equivalent of a scal and dickey for free agent signings this summer. Just not feeling the love out there. Our best hope is for our jersey and other third party first round picks to pay off. Stevens' coached teams will likely keep making the 7 or 8 playoff seed.  So our own picks won't have much value. Here's to hoping that Gasol leaves Memphis, Lopez leaves Jersey, Aldridge does not sign in Dallas, and Minnie gets the 11th pick next year (although wondering if that has any value in next years draft?).

I'd rather put my eggs in the 2016 basket.  Give our current roster 1 more season (or till trade deadline) to raise their value. I think we can expect at least 3 of AB, MS, KO, JS, JY, TZ and the rookies to make good progress and be more valued on the trade market.  GW becomes tradeable or expires to give more cap room. Nets hopefully go down the tubes and their picks become even more valuable.    2016... be patient -- no need to spend a lot now on 2nd tier players (though Harris could be worth it).

I don't think james  young is untouchable by any means. Especially since we just took Hunter although Young and Hunter might go well together as a 1/2 punch as shooters off the bench.  We can't have enough of those.

Harris and Monroe make this team a fifty win team IMO...I don't want Hibbert anywhere near this roster.

if you are referring to james young, he has been in the nba only one year, not two.

next, not everyone here says young is untouchable. please read what posters have to say. doing so informs your posts better and shows respect for the postings and opinions of others.

quite a few folks here include young in trade proposals, or have serious reservations about his future. but as was stated very well above, the kid is 19 and had a slow start in his first and only year in the nba.

so, maybe we can be a bit more patient with young given this and the rave reviews on him by CBS.

I am very much for acquiring Monroe and Harris.

That being said, I don't feel that they can make us a 50 win team NEXT year.

Let's face it. We "lucked out" (well considering the loss in draft position, maybe not so much) in making the playoffs last year. Injuries and dysfunction  abounded on all the other playoff contenders and we got many teams (Cleveland twice in the last week of the season), who didn't try to win games. We played well, I agree, but the other teams were pathetic. Indiana and Miam and possibly Charlottei will most likely be significantly better.

What Monroe (25 3 weeks ago) and Harris (23 in two weeks) do for us is give us a young, skilled, running, talented core going forward and to build upon. This could potentially set us up for 10 years.

Both are blossoming stars with still much upside. I'm praying that we get them both.

What are we going to do in 2016? Not sure when all this new $ is suppose to hit but whenever it does the only way we can compete for good players is having a good team and the right situation for that player(s). If we have a chance to sign good players now than IMO we have to. You can always trade players and all that but we need talent on this team and signing players now would be good in long term cap situations. Once you have hit the cap you want $ coming off the books when you have to give it to young guys ready to sign new deals.

Waiting for 2016 doesn't make much sense.  Stronger free agent class, maybe, but pretty much every single team will have tons of cap space.

The Celts don't want to be competing with the entire league for top free agents -- especially if they fail to add anybody of note this summer and end up with more middle-of-the-road draft picks next summer.

what happened to the rookies

3rd stringers

LOL.

Doc Rivers left town.  Rookies get a chance under Stevens.

Well, until some deals are made, they will be third stringers.  They might get time, but just think about it:

PG - Smart, Thomas, Rozier, Pressey
SG - Bradley, Turner, Young, Hunter
PF - Sullinger, Olynyk, [Bass], [Jerebko], Mickey

Looking like it'll be tough for any of the rookies to get time, as of right now.  That's why I expect Bradley, Turner, and one of the Sullynyk duo to get traded.  Unload some of the guys who have peaked and make room for younger guys who might have higher upside.

I think Monroe and Harris would help providing they do not hurt our defensive integrity.  Offensively, they are much better than what we have save IT.  The key will be can they play D and will they buy into CBS systems.
