  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
When I read that it was for 2 years/$24 million I was like "ugh, that's a lot of money to gamble on a fragile knee".

And I continued reading, and found out only half is guaranteed in the first year and a team option in the 2nd, then I was like "that's great value".

Very high upside in this signing, with not a lot of commitment. I like this move by Cleveland.

So, what's our over/under as to how many games Kyrie and Bynum playing games together? 33 games? I go over.

Cleveland is having a good offseason so far. Their roster on paper looks good. I see them making a push (for at most) tha  6th spot in tha playoffs. If Bynum is healthy and can stay healthy, he gives them a good chance to make tha playoffs period.

Now with tha C's rebuilding, I feel this is a perfect time for them to take a chance on Oden. Cavs signed Bynum, still have Varejao. Heat re-signed Andersen. Spurs re-signed Splitter.  With tha Mavs missing out on Howard and reluctant on Bynum, maybe they'll try for Oden. But while tha C's are rebuilding, I think they should make a good push for Oden.

Bynum signing for tha Cavs was a good, bold move tho. I like it. And I would like to see them have some success without LeBron.

I actually think a rebuilding team is the wrong team to take a chance on Oden.  He's not a guy who can be in your long-term plans.  The Celtics have the flexibility to pursue a more long-term solution after this season, whether draft or trade or free agency.

He makes more sense for a rising team where he might be the difference between missing and making the playoffs or for a capped-out team where gambling on Oden for the minimum provides the best shot at becoming a contender.

well he might be in your long term plans if he works out.  I agree you can't rely on him for anything, but if Oden can stay healthy he will be a legit star and pairing him with Rondo could yield great results.

I would absolutely take a chance on Oden.  If he is healthy he is a stud.

I would like to see Oden take a 15-20mpg backup center role on a quality.

Minimize the responsibility and minutes on him. Just concentrate on making it through the season and be a defender/rebounder.

That is what Conley should be telling him to do, which means he really should sign with Indiana or Miami.

Those two teams already have two top backup centers on their teams with Ian Mahinmi and Chris Andersen. I would consider both of those guys to be in the top 10 backup centers in the league.

I would go somewhere more like the LA Clippers or Oklahoma City Thunder where his stiffest competition would be a Ryan Hollins or a Hasheem Thabeet.

If the team was willing to minimize his minutes as a starter (16-24mpg), I think the New Orleans Hornets could make a lot of sense for Greg Oden. Get to play alongside Anthony Davis. They have Ryan Anderson, Greg Stiemsma and Jason Smith off the bench (keep his minutes under control). Some good perimeter players. Possible playoff team. Young squad.
