After a breakfast meeting with Bynum and medical evaluations in Dallas, Mavericks officials came away with what one source described as "significant concerns" about Bynum's ability to be ready for the start of the season or to have any significant impact in 2013-14. That made the Mavericks reluctant in the extreme to try to outbid the Cavs, who had more financial flexibility to make this sort of gamble, sources said.
Knowing the Cavs luck, he will get them to the 8 seed in the East, they'll get swept in the first round, then he'll have a good start to the 2015 season, resign at a huge amount, then get injured forever. Their 2014 pick won't pan out, but all of the ones ahead of theirs will. I'm calling it now.
Anyways, it's great to see another realistic option for knocking the Celtics out of playoff contention, even if the Cs try.
