Guys lucky he has the body structure he does or he'd be on the streets with his attitude and knees. If Bynum can somehow stay healthy the Cavs have the best center in the East and with their other pieces are playoff bound.

Elsewhere, things never seem to work out for Cuban anymore

Everyone loses in the Dwight Howard trade

LA loses in 1st round - Dwight bolts
Philly misses playoffs - Bynum bolts
Orlando became a lottery team

I guess Orlando kinda won since they are rebuilding early lol

Hopefully the cavs have some insurance or some out clause in the contract. I can't see Bynum lasting very long.

I guess this takes them out of the Oden running, which leave the celtics, the spurs, and the heat as the top 3 teams reportedly after him.

The heat re-signed Birdman, but I'm not sure if that impacts their ability to sign Oden at all. I see the Spurs as his best option, with the celtics 2nd. Lot's of pressure in Miami, with no guarantee playing time or much money. Winning a ring is nice, but Greg needs some $$$ and a chance to slowly revive his career.

Bold move. I like it.

I think for an owner wanting to finally make it back to the spotlight its a medium risk/high reward situation. If it's the 2 year 12m deal with 2nd year team option  I like it even more. Then it's not even medium risk, it's expensive low risk move.

The only thing I'd be worried about if I were the Cavs is signing a guy who some say has a bad attitude/can be a locker room problem to a team with a ton of young talent.

The one hole on Cleveland's bench was that backup five slot. Now with Bynum coming in, the Cavs can slide Varejao back into that 6th man role that he excels in so well and have the best backup center in the league.

G - K.Irving, J.Jack
G - D.Waiters, CJ Miles
F - A.Bennett, A.Gee
F - T.Thompson, E.Clark
C - A.Bynum, A.Varejao, T.Zeller

That is a pretty deep team. 11 deep. Maybe one of the best benches in the league.

If they can get enough games out of A.Bynum, their playoff chances just went way up.

Bynum and the Cavaliers agreed to an incentive-laden, two-year contract that could be worth up to $24 million, sources told ESPN. The Cavs hold a team option for the second year of the deal, and only $6 million of the contract is guaranteed, according to sources.

$6 million guaranteed?  That is an absolute steal for the Cavs.  Huge possible reward, little to no risk.

very solid signing for the Cavs. Seems like Bynum and his agent actually had a decent chat and the guy doesnt seem like to be acting like a complete and utter tool. Unless he is just stealing 6 mil from the cavs and cant really play.....

I was worried when I heard the Cavs were pressuring Bynum to make a decision with 24mil on the table but happy to hear that it's a team option for the second year I believe with only 6mil guaranteed as mentioned before.

I've been a Cavs fan for a couple years now, pretty much since LeBron left cause I like paying attention to rebuilding teams. The Jarret Jack, Earl Clark, and Bynum signings definitely make them more competitive. They have a CHANCE for the eighth seed depending on how well the Bucks play out the rest of their off season. The Wiz have been my dark horse team to make the eighth spot since last year but with the injuries it just wasn't possible.

At least therer will be an interesting eighth seed race!

After a breakfast meeting with Bynum and medical evaluations in Dallas, Mavericks officials came away with what one source described as "significant concerns" about Bynum's ability to be ready for the start of the season or to have any significant impact in 2013-14. That made the Mavericks reluctant in the extreme to try to outbid the Cavs, who had more financial flexibility to make this sort of gamble, sources said.

Knowing the Cavs luck, he will get them to the 8 seed in the East, they'll get swept in the first round, then he'll have a good start to the 2015 season, resign at a huge amount, then get injured forever.  Their 2014 pick won't pan out, but all of the ones ahead of theirs will.  I'm calling it now.

Anyways, it's great to see another realistic option for knocking the Celtics out of playoff contention, even if the Cs try.

I fully agree. For some reason i'm even optimistic that Bynum will be healthy. I always root for skilled big men to do well. I'm still optimistic about Oden aswell. I hope he gets his health back and his act together. Would be a very fun team.
