Reiss is speculating (via twitter) that Mayo will play this week.

That would be interesting
(no need to rush him back, though).

Yeah, i mentioned it before.  I'd rather see him sit out a few more weeks and be totally healthy than risk coming back too soon, reaggrevating the injury and be out for the season.

The defense has remained afloat despite his absence pretty well, IMO.

I agree.  I think in the long run, it may help this team a bit with the extra experience Guyton got being the man inside.  It will be interesting to see if they go with more 3-4 once Mayo comes back.

Absolutely ... I think this will be a blessing in disguise ... sometimes when teams are forced into doing things they normally wouldn't, they find they have strengths in places they didn't expect.

And I think we might say we are even underscoring what this defense has done without him. I think they've done a lot more than stay a float and have seen the emergence of some future stars in Merriwether and Guyton sooner because of his absence.

"Ty Law is a two-time All-Pro, a five-time Pro Bowl selection and has won three Super Bowl rings with the Patriots"
Nothing in that statement that says anything about being fundamentally flawed.

Mayo will be playing today, that is nice. His time out was a blessing for Guyton who really improved over the last few games, i doubt Mayo plays a ton but the Globe is expecting 20-25 snaps.

How the hell do you tear your MCL Grade III and come back not even a month later?
God bless and good night!
