I blame myself. i took him as my defensive player in my ESPN league.

any patriot i pick is doomed to injury.

He is on crutches and in a knee brace now.   Awesomeeee

Remember, this is the Pats.  That probably means he is starting on Sunday.

I think the injury report bs is overblown.  the pats play games with the report.  Every team does.  Maybe the Jets do it to a different level, but every team does it.

Mayo hasnt been deemed out yet, despite the fact that there is 0 chance he will play.

Mayo (and Wilfork) were back at practice today.

Mayo's injury happened 18 days ago. The initial diagnosis for the MCL sprain was 6 to 8 weeks, but a source with knowledge of the injury had told the Globe the timetable was not that bad and Mayo could be back sooner.

The Patriots went about half-speed through special teams and Mayo participated on kickoff coverage. He was wearing baggy sweatpants, but there appeared to be a bulging outline of a brace underneath them on the right knee.

Great news

How do you get diagnosed to be out 6-8 weeks and come back 18 days later?

That has me a bit nervous.  The last thing I want is him rushing back too soon and then reinjuring himself and being out for the year or worse.

MCL sprains don't have a rigid timeline. Sometimes you can be back after just a few weeks, other times it takes 3 months.

Hopefully he'll be back on the field in a week or two. Any sooner would be pushing it.

Yea it seems crazy, but since the Pats never disclose anything, who knows how accurate the 6-8 weeks was.

That being said, I would assume he likely wouldnt be back for an actual game for a couple weeks still.

Ya MCL Tears can be pretty different depending on who it is and severity etc.  Although I really dont expect him to play this week.  But its good to see him active.

TP for the Jets zinger.

I'm glad Mayo seems to be healing quickly, but I hope he isn't rushed back...

Yeah, I was disappointed by that last series.  A first down, and the game would have been over, IMHO.

Was it too far out for a FG attempt?

This is frustrating and disconcerting ... Flacco is doing what Brady always does: Marching down the field with short time left ... come ON, D!!!
