Title and poll question pretty much explains the thread. What would you prefer to do from here?

Quick Considerations:

1. I assume Horford stays (either opts-in or signs a restructured deal), and so does Hayward. So the first four options account for that, except Option 5 in which case they're probably gone in some way (or we keep just 1 of the 2).

2. Morris and Rozier's FA and decisions to keep/let them go probably will depend on what path the Front Office decides to take from here. Could keep none, or one, or both but that probably wouldn't be determined soon.

Re-sign Kyrie & trade for AD.

Talent, not depth seems to rise to the top at the end.   Clear out some of the depth this team has and become a bit top heavier.  AD & Kyrie is a great 1-2 punch to have.  The Celtics will still have talent around them with Hayward, Horford (hopefully), & either Brown or Tatum.  Ideally, I'd love to keep Smart around but that might not be feasible with a trade.

I have zero interest in a full blown rebuild & tank and I'd rather not see this team drift into treadmill land with the hope that the kids pan out.    Would rather see this team win a championship sooner rather than later.   That can get done when you have a couple of Top 15 talents on the team.

“Trade for AD and let Kyrie walk” should be labeled as the franchise suicide option.

Yeah, that would almost be a lock to be a 1 year rental. God no

In spite of all the mediatalk, their best chance to get AD is to re-sign Kyrie. Ainge apparently wants Davis badly. Maybe he realizes the team has a hole up front you could drive a tank through.

Danny had to show his hand on AD, unfortunately, during the trading season, when the Lakers were trying desperately to get Davis. This hurt morale on the Celtics team--especially with the young players, and may be the basis of all their problems with consistency the rest of the season.

The NBA is a star system. You need a few studs who complement each other and get most of the touches. Plus a bunch of role players who can play good defense, with maybe a 3 point specialist thrown in there.  One of the studs must be a big--an Embiid or Iannis type player. A guy who can lock up the paint. Bill Russell was that type of guy, and they won a dozen or so championships with him. He was the key, and he averaged 16.7 ppg lifetime.

Ainge played on great Celtics teams, with Parish and Bird and McHale, and he knows all this stuff. He knows he must get Davis. Then his next challenge will be to keep Stevens from trying to make a 3P specialist out of him.

I picked #3, After everything we've seen this season, I'd be OK if we able to pull this off:

Davis
Horford
Brown
Beal

I am not convinced by that. That team would be by far the best team AD has ever played on, would be very successful and have opportunities to grow more in the future. I think AD could be convinced to stay.

I'd want to talk to him first before making the deal if I were Ainge but I think that path forward is still do-able without Kyrie.

C: Anthony Davis
F: Al Horford
F: Gordon Hayward
G: Jaylen or Tatum
G: Rozier

That is an awesome team

.... well so long as Hayward isn't kaput! He doesn't need to be an All-Star but he needs to be a good starting quality player. Not the player he was for large chunks / most of of this season.

I would typically say keep Kyrie but don't trade for AD and just make some upgrades using picks and cheaper signings for someone like Beverley or a rotation big.

But if we truly want to contend in the next 3-5 years in this "new East", we probably are going to need AD.

And also, I've kind of softened my stance about dealing Tatum for a rental. I love Tatum and think he's still got a high ceiling. But especially in the 2nd half of last season I saw a lot more Carmelo Anthony and even Andrew Wiggins in him than say, a Pierce/PG13/Durant like player. His defense looked awful even in the playoffs and he also doesn't seem to show much effort on that end.

If you can trade for AD using one of Brown/Tatum but can keep the other while also keeping many of your other key players, I'd be a bit more willing to do it. I'd hate to lose Smart in this potential scenario though and would not trade BOTH Brown + Tatum in any deal.

But even after a deal for AD you could still make minimal to moderate upgrades using MLE and maybe a 2019 pick if you don't trade all of them.

Has anyone though about how free agency will unfold?
If Kyrie wants to be treated as equal with the superstars he wouldn’t wait on Duran and Kawhi to announce where are they going? If the above two are taking meetings in the first 2-3 days in July and then announce where are they going how would Kyrie feel if he has to wait?
I have the feeling he will sign here and announce it on the first day of free agency just like George did last year...
Kyrie is a weird guy but he knows this is his best situation and most $$$

Trade for Davis. Preferably with Kyrie on board but if not still trade for Davis. Davis is the best player in the NBA. When you get a chance to get a player like that and have a good team around him, you take it.

Trade our three wings under contract plus 4-5 draft picks for Davis and Beal. Then resign Morris. Add a mle signing and we are back in business.

Plus, it's likely Durant leaves the Warriors, and without KD the Warriors would still be contenders but not an invincible team anymore. So overall, that could make the entire league essentially wide open. Right now you could say Houston, Toronto and Milwaukee are the next 3 after Golden State. But a trade for AD could put us right in that Tier 1 grouping next season and beyond.

As Woj said, the Warriors themselves have been planning for seismic change after this season.

Yeah, there's literally no way that happens. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y5d9vvny is literally possible, but 0 reason for Washington to do it without more compensation, and we lose Smart
