Losing a player the caliber of Kyrie Irving is not good thing for the Boston Celtics franchise. He may not be a Batman, but he is a proven Robin, or a proven #2. The focus should be on getting a #1 player, and not running our #2 player out of town because he’s not a good alpha dog.

In 2018, Kyrie helped the Celtics to a 16 game winning streak and a high seeding that set the Celtics up to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics would not have done so well in that 2018 playoff run without that home court advantage, they only won one road game that entire playoff run. There’s no way that team is the #2 seed without Kyrie during the regular season, not even close. So for those who cite that playoff run as evidence that Kyrie was the problem, are citing fools gold.

The general sentiment that Bostonians have towards Kyrie is an embarrassment. Is he sort of a strange guy and an enigma, by definition? Yes. But Kyrie possesses a special skillset that can help bring a title home. The Celtics are further away from that goal without him.

In an ESPN era of fans being mesmerized by great handles and athletic layups, Irving was given the nod over Klay Thompson. Irving clearly didn't deserve 2nd team all NBA... especially over Thompson. Savvy GMs such as Bob Myers would take Thompson over Irving 8 days a week b/c of his all around play and great defense.

enjoyed him immensely. 

I don't think the situation fittted him or suited him like thought at first .  I think he gave it at least a try , as he was traded to,place he would probably never asked to,be traded in first place.   All he ever kn w was Bron ball and older players .  He never had to be a leader, there was always 12 other guys older than him with tons of years experience.  He was Lebrons backup scorer, when Bron sat , Kyrie took over .  His role was well defined , Bron had him in his place.

The Kyrie acquisition 2 years ago was exciting and full of promise. His scoring ability has been a joy to watch. But those knees keep betraying him. He could barely break anyone down off the dribble against the Bucks. He doesn't have the same explosion he once had, and he is injury prone.

Combine the knee issues with his weird personality and his expected salary demands ($35-40m per year), and i think its just time to move on. Sadly for him i think he'll be a malcontent his entire career. There is no perfect situation for him.

I appreciate his play over the past 2 years, but i think its time to put the ball in the Jayson and Jaylen's hands and see what they can do.

Great talent not a great player, great players make those around him better he can't do that.

He was among the team leaders in taking CHARGES - THIS YEAR.

He was our starting PG during our 16 game winning streak in 17-18.

The team was 42-13 in 17-18 with Kyrie Irving as our starting PG.

We were a healthy Kyrie Irving away from going to the NBA Finals in 17-18.

I don't give a hoot if I'm the last Kyrie Irving fan on this sometimes fickle Blog - everything that went wrong WASN'T his fault...sure he was a PART of it - but he is taking an absurd amount of blame for it.
