I think Danny's gonna go after AD whether or not Kyrie is coming back.

Smart - Brown - Hayward - Davis - Horford

That team plus the right supporting pieces could be a heck of a defensive team.  If Hayward gets anywhere close to where he was in Utah, maybe they have enough shot making to be a real threat in the East.

Anyway, I think Ainge is going for it.  He didn't come this far just to give up because Kyrie turned out to be a sourpuss weirdo.

If Irving is actually out, I think Tatum gets put on the table which could tip the scales for Boston.

I'd still go after Rubio, and have Smart and Rozier lead the bench.

I think unless Rozier get the start and get starting PG minutes, he is going to be a headache again. He will not be happy with being on the bench

I wouldn't touch Rozier with a 30 foot pole.

I really don't want Terry back after he did all that talking after the season.

My guess is that he's going to try this deal everywhich way that doesn't include Tatum then eventually bow out if NO doesn't bite.

Very good chance of AD in LA.

Smart has his limitations, but I think people are severely underestimating the value of a starting PG who:

Defends 5 positions
Has actual leadership skills
Is a career Boston Celtic
Doesn’t need shots or high usage to be happy

Once you accept him as a role player instead of a high lottery pick, he ain’t bad, especially with 3-4 other scorers on the court.

Not to mention- how much of his career has he been forced to play out of position?

Make him team captain and embrace what he does.

Do we think Ainge gets fired if it doesn't work out though? I don't mean to come across like a troll asking that, but that would be a MASSIVE risk to take, and a franchise-altering one too. Would look worse if AD bolted to NY or LA a year after anyways.

He can start at the so called PG position...but I am using Hayward to facilitate the offense in the half court.

I don't see why Danny or Stevens would either if the purported issues Rozier caused are true.  He's clearly full of himself and unhappy with his role, and will remain unhappy as a bench player.

With regard to Kyrie I'm not going to react to anything until something actually happens.  So many nonsense rumors these days.

I should certainly hope so. Any Celtics fan should have a blinding rage at the thought that Ainge would be allowed to sabotage the franchise for a one year rental, just because he's getting old and is too tired to build a roster.

If wyc and co are actually serious about wanting to win titles at any cost, they are going to be pushing Danny to take those risks.

With Irving + AD along with much of our current team, we can certainly win a title.

With no Irving in the mix though, I'm not sure how adding AD makes us a Finals threat. Sure, we could make the ECF, but if Kawhi stays in Toronto do we really think we can take them, or even MIL?

Ainge would have to have another good move planned in addition to an AD trade if Kyrie leaves. Doesn't have to be another star per say, but someone (likely a guard) who is really solid. And no, that's NOT Rozier

And Danny has been able to tear down teams and rebuild it to playoff contenders quite well, so while there's a risk, I think you can trust Ainge that if it didn't work, he would know what to do for what comes next.
