Wow, and I thought Boston media was bad sometimes. Kyrie, if you think NY will take it easy on you, think again. Look at cover todays Daily News- completely classless..well done NY, please send Kyrie a copy.

Centers better than Capella?

Horford
Davis
Cousins(once healthy)
Marc Gasol
Drummond
Embiid
Gobert
Jokic
Nurkic
Towns
Vucevic
Ayton
Adams
Collins
Aldridge

That's off the top of my head

And with the exception of Davis and Horford (who's already on the team), none of those centers are available. And Al Horford is a power forward. You know who Capela is better than? Theis, Baynes and Robin Williams.
Capela is not better than Mrs. Doubtfire.

Cousins is a big if.
Nurkic is an if due to injury
Gasol is old and dropping off
Ayton no
Allen not much difference imo
Collins about the same i guess
Adams no
Embiid, towns, jokic and vooch all unavailable.

Capela 3rd in centers for win shares
3rd in fg%
8th in total rebounds
12th in blocks
3rd in offensive rating
19 in defensive rating (gotta chalk some of that to the team amd dantoni)

Just because Gasol is old doesn't make him worse. He's still a better player than Capela. The most obvious reason for this is that Gasol is actually playable in the playoffs because he can shoot and pass, and is at worst as good at defence as Capela is. The Warriors made Capela unplayable whereas they've been at Gasol's mercy.

Ayton yes. He just put up almost identical per minute numbers and he doesn't turn 21 for a month.

Nick didn't even list Allen (Brooklyn Allen I assume).

John Collins just put up effectively a 20/10/2 season as a sophomore.

Steven Adams yes. He's the best offensive rebounder in the league, and would get way more defensive boards if Westbrick didn't constantly stat chase.

I love how you're happy to chalk up DRTG to team and D'Antoni, but not win shares

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2840824-kyrie-irving-rumors-star-prepared-to-sign-with-nets-after-celtics-opt-out

Quote
Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets have been connected numerous times in recent weeks, but Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald provided the most impactful news when he reported Thursday that the floor general "is prepared to sign with the [Nets] when he becomes a free agent next month."

"According to a source with ties to Roc Nation, the organization expected to become Irving's new representative, the All-Star point guard is prepared to sign with the Brooklyn Nets when he becomes a free agent next month," Bulpett wrote. "A separate league source told the Herald that his team (not the Celtics) has received the same information and is operating under the belief that Irving wants to join the Nets."

The 27-year-old averaged 23.8 points, 6.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds last season. The 2016 NBA champion and six-time All-Star was the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft out of Duke.

The 42-40 Nets surprised many en route to their first postseason appearance since the 2014-15 season.

They have an All-Star in D'Angelo Russell, but the Nets could use a superstar like Irving to build their team around as they look to improve upon their successful 2018-19 campaign.

If Irving comes on board, the Nets would have one of the NBA's more productive offensive backcourts.

The eight-year veteran, who has posted 22.2 points per game during his career, has made 39.0 percent of his three-pointers.

Russell is coming off a career-best season in which he averaged 21.2 points on 43.4 percent shooting in just 30.1 minutes per game. For his part, he seemingly approves of Irving headed to the Nets if his like on an Instagram post featuring a custom Irving Nets jersey is any indication.

Brooklyn has room for improvement on the offensive end; per ESPN.com, the Nets finished just 19th in offensive efficiency last season.

Irving can certainly help in that regard, as his 24.37 player efficiency rating ranked third among all qualified point guards last season, per ESPN.com.

Ultimately, adding Irving is a no-brainer for Brooklyn if both sides can reach an agreement.

Thought this deserved a new thread since some might not be following along that other Bulpett thread and just go with what the title currently says there.

Going forward, I'd personally sign Rubio, add another depth big using an exception, and then re-structure Horford's contract. Then build with the Jays and surround them with additional talent for the coming year or two, then go from there. Maybe hope a disgruntled star becomes available who ACTUALLY wants to be here along the way, or that any additional picks/signings we make pan out big time. Oh, and that with a healthy offseason, Hayward can come back close to All-Star form. I think Ainge is basically just driving up AD's price so LAL would have to give up a fortune to acquire him (or the Knicks).

Yeah, bugger it, I've resigned myself to the fact that he's a goner. I think watching the Jays + Hayward have 15-20 shots a game each could be a good base for a fun season to watch though.

Plus 4 first round picks I can overvalue!

You need to change this title, as the second claim about building with the Jays is not in this at all. In fact, all the reports suggest the opposite - that Danny is going after AD regardless of Kyrie.

And do we really need another thread for this? We’ve already been talking about this for several pages in the other thread and there’s already enough threads to follow lol

I think Rubio would be the perfect fit for this team. Yes, obvious downgrade from Kyrie, but he can help generate shots for others and be a floor general. Also I don't think he'd cost an enormous amount (MLE?).

I'd prefer Collison, because he's an elite catch and shoot guy who doesn't look for many shots. But any of the MLE guards would be good

If he wants to go home so be it. It basically runs contrary to everything he said the previous two years. Just like he’ll probably sing a different tune in due time in Brooklyn. Incredibly talented player. Sad it didn’t work out in Boston. Losing a talent like his will hurt them in the short term next year.

Some people who have followed along that thread probably stopped following it after a while and aren't aware that a new article came out from Bulpett basically providing another viewpoint  :P

So if Kyrie walks, what are the odds Rozier comes back?

Smart will likely be gone if the AD trade happens(along with either Brown or Tatum) so we will need multiple guards. Even if no AD trade, we could use Smart and Rozier both.

Who are the MLE options at Guard?

The MLE options I can think of are Rubio, Collison, Cory Joseph and Beverley off the top of my head.
