Well he's not wrong. Mook, Brown and Horford are the only guys who shouldn't be ashamed of their play.

Maybe Smart too because of injury.

But I agree with the sentiment. It's time to lead

And Tatum needs to step it up and stop thinking about himself being traded in the summer.

Hayward too. $31M and only putting up 2 points in the most critical game of the season off the bench spells disaster.

And Brad Stevens needs to do a better job adjusting. Can't always let 3rd quarter meltdowns happen.

Don't want to hear Irving saying "we" need to play better when he went 7-22 and 1-7 on 3s in the game during the interview after the game!

In fact, Irving has been terrible the last 3 games - don't have the stats for the last 3 games handy but saw the Dallas Morning news article.   Irving has been flat out terrible.

Yes, the bench didn't help any in game 4 but when your "star" is doing virtually nothing on offense, then it is hard for the "team" to get the win.

Don't expect the C's to pull out the series and as I have said before, I won't miss Irving if the decides to leave.  Don't appreciate his lack of leadership ...

Dont you know he says "we" ....when team is losing

And "me" when winning

Cant wait to start next season at a clean slate

So Silky I'm glad you are a fan of Irving's offense the last 3 games and his seemingly selfish attitude...

MikeB

Outside of brown i am not much of a fan of anything the last 3 games.

But Kyrie is not blame number 1...he isnt even blame top 5

If team was up 3 to 1 u would not have made this thread

If we were up 3-1 there would be no one to criticize.

But we’re not.

Will Silky tell us who blames 1-5 are, and what number Kyrie the self anointed leader is?

How is kyrie the “self anointed” leader? I mean, isn’t he the obvious leader? Otherwise, why would his words carry so much weight?

The only 3 people I can think of who have been similarly disappointing / to blame for this 3 game period have been Brad, Hayward and maybe one of Tatum/Rozier. Tatum's production has increased but his defence has disappeared, and we all know about Rozier.

Can't think of any others

I really dont know what makes him the obvious leader? So he has a ring courtesy of LeBron James has even he has now admitted by calling to apologize to king James. He joined a team with a solid vet in Horford. How is he an obvious leader? The team did very well when CBS was acknowledged to be the obvious leader.

Well, usually, the best players on the team are the leaders. Plus, it’s not like he’s the only one who says he’s the leader. It’s everywhere. I don’t get where all this “self anointed” bs is coming from. Sounds like baseless hate to me

Funnily enough, I was going to make a post last night after the loss regarding how Kyrie is almost always talking in the sense of singular personal pronouns (I, me, etc.) rather than plural personal pronouns (we, us, etc.). When you compare that with someone like Horford, who always talks using plural personal pronouns, I think that says a lot about his leadership mentality and overall orientation, which isn't necessarily good.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a Kyrie supporter all season long, and I still think Plan A this summer is to resign Kyrie and trade for AD if he can be had for a fair price (e.g. Tatum, Smart OR Brown, Williams, all non-Celtics picks, etc.). However, his leadership skills need a ton of work, and I think his lack of leadership ability has played a significant part of the collapses we've had the past three games.

There was no anointing. Since the big trade, it became “kyries team” from the get go.

To juxtapose, who anointed IT?

Okay. So I will say, Irving has been disappointing in this series. Don't think anyone can deny that,
BUT it doesn't help when the rest of the team is playing like crap. Exclude Brown and Morris if you like, but the rest of the team has been pretty awful.
Now if some of these guys were playing better, I believe Kyrie would also be. How many more assists would he have if guys were hitting shots when he passed them the ball?
How much better would be be scoring the ball if the Bucks couldn't double or triple team him because they are not concerned with anyone else on the team?
It is a we game. He is right when he says we are not playing well. He is not excluding himself. He is part of the problem, maybe even a large part, but he is certainly not the sole problem.

How will Kyrie approach the game tonight?

Will he try to take over and score 40+ to prove he's that great a shooter?

Or will he try to show he's a team first leader, play a balanced offensive game and work hard on defense?

I think we'll find out some things about who he is tonight.
