they looked lost, confused, lethargic, lazy etc....I hadn't believed stevens had lost the team but now im starting to think it.i wonder what danny must be thinking
I'm not gonna read the whole thread b/c I've soured on this team and spending less of my 'entertainment time' on them.  That said, Stevens has rarely been questioned.  I've reached the conclusion that he's great for young teams and getting them to over-achieve, but not so great with motivating championship teams.

...ala maybe he should go back to coaching college basketball.

I'm guessing that Ainge has already called Kevin McHale to check his level of interest in taking over.  I think the mindset is they may need a stronger personality who's been around the block a few more times when it comes to dealing with NBA star level talent, not to mention veterans.

I don't know man. People always seem to be worried about the offensive side but defense and rebounding is what wins championships.

All the things that make me angry are on the defensive side and almost NEVER  involve rozier.

I really don't know what yall are looking at. The team philosophy of chucking threes is already problematic, so I don't know why Rozier is singled out...they ALL do that nonsense.

And Kyrie takes a ton of long 2's that you say is absolutely unacceptable for Tatum. He also only makes a play for other teamates very rarely yet yall chew everyone else up not named Kyrie for ball flow...but that's like the main reason a point is on the floor. But it's all OK for Kyrie.

I haven't been watching too much lately, but JB and Rozier have strengths in transition but it looked to me like no one is trying to run any more

It's so many things now I think they quit on the coach awhile ago, and I can't say I don't understand. It really is the Kyrie show and it don't matter how talented he is if he's always gonna keep everyone below him so he can shine.

You are never gonna win with a guy like that unless you have a Lebron, because he's just not gonna let anyone else grow to be one. If the plan is Davis and Kyrie, then let these guys go somewhere where they can be someone without the little dictator.

I have a feeling I won't be watching this team next year.

And I blame IT for bringing me back into this mess :) I forgot how much the Celtic organization annoys me.

WOW...this is a great observation...all the points are spot on. Every last one of them. We are watching this team with the same eyes. Perfect!!

You guys are hilarious, calling it the Kyrie Show but then pining for the days of IT, a worse passer, bigger ballhog and bigger drain on the rest of the offensive players than Kyrie has been since he got here.

another thing this team is lacking is toughness, they all play weak like theyre afraid of contact except for smart . I don't see baynes being a big difference maker but he does add toughness to this bunch. what I miss is the days of brad drawing up great inbounds plays , I guess those days are over. also wish he would start making guys accountable.

It’s the funniest weird little echo chamber in anti-Kyrie land. Repeating the same takes, however often they’re dissected and proven to not really be based in truth by an incredible number of posters, and then misremembering IT as some good passer.

Really strange

I'm not on the side of people who hate on Kyrie for the way he plays.

That said, for all of IT's flaws, between him and Kyrie it's night and day in terms of off court / intangibles / leadership.

have to agree.  loved the trade when it happened because we got the far-superior player but as far as being a leader for the team, IT was much better at it.  only thing that torpedoed IT here was his comments about backing up the Brinks truck.

Yeah, people didn’t like that at all.

IIRC, didn’t he get personalised slides with ‘Brinks Truck’ printed on them?

“Other guys have to step up and make plays, that’s what it comes down to. If they try to do it again in Game 6, it comes down to other guys making plays. I’m gonna just try to get the ball out as quickly as possible, out of the trap, out of the two or three guys they have on me. But other guys have to make shots, other guys have to make plays for us to win.”

“At that point the game was turned around, and I guess we gave up — the coaching staff, as well,” Thomas said after the game.  We started subbing. It was bad. Especially — I only played 27 minutes. We gave up.”

"We should have won this game,” Thomas told reporters, via ESPN.com.  “We should have won (Sunday) night (in Phoenix.)  We can’t be experimenting in Game 63.”

Is anybody who watched the team two seasons ago going to tell me that the guys on the roster didn't seem to enjoy playing with IT a lot more than the guys on this year's team enjoy playing with Kyrie?

Again, I don't think Kyrie is to blame for all of the chemistry issues on the team this year.

It's not about how many shots they take, or how much defense they play, either.  Although I think as far as defense goes, with IT the issue was always size, not effort.

But I don't think there should be any controversy in saying that IT was the heart and soul of this team two years ago in a way that Kyrie has still not managed to achieve and embody in his time here so far.

Agree with all that, but definitely disagree that it's "night and day" between IT and Kyrie in terms of the things you listed

It's a completely different team save for Marcus Smart and Al Horford for a bit. The team two years ago didn't have nearly as much talent - or rather - as many players thinking they're already stars and don't need to buy in. IT was the center of that team and King in the Fourth because he essentially carried that team. The team and offense was geared around and no one complained because it had to be that way.

What I take issue with is the idea that IT was perfect and never had growing pains as a leader. He threw blame around at times, but things tend to get remembered more positively the further you get away from it. It's not fair to compare Kyrie to something that never really was. Can you imagine the outrage here if Kyrie came out last night said something like "The coaching staff gave up" or "We can't be experimenting with lineups in game XX"? This board would be on fire.
