About a month ago I posted that I considered Irving to be injury prone.   I realize a few of the games he has missed this year were illness related but here we go again...a knee sprain which will cause him to miss more games.

Personally I am beginning to hope the Celtics don't end up signing him to a long term contract for several reasons.

First, I don't think the Celtics can trust that he can stay healthy for the long term.  He has an injury history which is continuing to be evident this year.

Second, I didn't like Irving calling Lebron to apologize basically throwing his younger teammates under the bus by saying he didn't understand how tough it was on Lebron when he played with the Cavs with Lebron having to deal with young teammates at that time.

I hope the Celtics prove me wrong and get to the NBA finals this year but I think if the Celtics lose early in the playoffs Kyrie will use that as an excuse to leave.   Frankly, at this point I don't really care if he leaves.

Irving missed some games because the Celts wanted to rest him.

Not all the 9 games missed were due to injury.

Kyrie is not injury prone.

Of course he's injury prone.  He missed the Cavs finals with a knee injury.  He missed last year's playoff run.  He's topped 72 games in his 8 year NBA career once.  Yes, he is injury prone.

That's why I wouldn't put all my eggs in a Kryie / AD basket.  AD is big-time injury prone as well.

Agreed...and injury prone players (Irving couldn't even play most of his one season at Duke) tend to stay injury prone as they get older. Unfortunately I think Ainge will give Kyrie a max deal.

I'm leaning towards keeping everyone and picks and let Kyrie walk. He's just not a team builder or a good leader. He just wants to play, get his numbers, attention and money. He seems very disconnected from the team.

Ugh. This idea simply makes no sense to me. We have one elite talent, and it's Kyrie. You can't win without elite talent.

Think of all the big moments this team has needed him, he has been AWOL.

ECF won't even sit on bench to encourage the team
Sits games for any nick or slightest injury
Calls out teammates when he said he wanted his own team...ok now lead.
Instead of being tough and showing his teammates how to lead going to Philly, he sits. He not only sits, he doesn't even make the trip.

Elite talent that is unreliable, isn't going ro get guys to follow or listen to you.

What if they go and win tomorrow in Philly...then what? They are saying we can win without you.Thats why he should be there.

I am glad people are starting to consider this ... sign him but not the max

These criticisms are just nonsensical.

He missed watching ECF games in person for treatment. Weird that a guy would do that.

He misses games when he doesn't feel at 100%. Would you rather he played through injury and ruined his career, losing hundreds of millions of dollars for himself and his family, just like IT did? Why are players expected to put themselves through so much when teams treat them purely as assets?

Why would he play for less than the max when he's a top 3 player in his position?

Sign him and only play him in the last five minutes of games until the playoffs.

You would both rather have us reloading it around a younger core?
That is IMO about 3 more years of machinations to reach contention.
Would you rather see that than Kyrie and AD here in 5 months going for the banner 18?

He might be the locker room issue and team seems play better when he is out
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

This is another outdated and statistically provably incorrect thing to say
