Irving is just a jerk...time to move on - hope he leaves

Disagree on trading him because his trade value is awful right now because of his contract situation.

I don't hope he leaves (well at least not now or without compensation in the summer -- I would like him traded for a star I better like) but I wouldn't be that upset if he does. Because I have never warmed to him and because I think the team is still in awesome shape without him.

Trades are proposed here all the time - In the spirit of this post, I would propose trading Irving now for a great playmaking, pass first, point guard plus a very good off-the-bench knock down shooter, both players solid defenders who would embrace their roles and be a positive fit with our talented roster. Now - are you telling me that would not greatly improve this team's performance ?

Kyrie will not be popular in any team because he’s kyrie.  He’s always gonna push himself to the forefront because that’s what he wants.  Nothing wrong with wanting the best.  If he thinks he can find better somewhere else good for him, he’s allowed.  At the same token he wants this group of players to step up to his level.  If all they are gonna do is whine about it and not give effort, I can’t blame him for going.  Kyrie said it best today...put everything g else to the side and focus on a championship and plying the game.  That’s all we can ask for this season.  That’s all Kyrie has ever ask for.  Worry about the goal in front of you not beyond you.  It’s the idiot reporters like Doris Burke and Ramona fat face that fan the flames them Celtics forums get butt hurt over stuff that’s not even happened.  It’s EspiN for a reason.

For Washington, they get cap relief from this years $129 million in salary down to roughly $80+ million in guaranteed contracts for next year. They also get a solid guard plus a massive infusion of youth and talent from the picks.

We get an elite shooter/scorer as a consolation prize for losing Irving plus Manhinmi as a backup big and our new starting backcourt will be Rozier and Beal.

That's a brutal trade for us. Irving is flat out better than Beal, and Smart is an elite defender, good playmaker and, assuming he can keep this up, a league average 3 point shooter. Adding picks is just horrible.

I'd rather keep Irving for the half of the season, but if worst came to absolute worst I guess this deal would be ok, as long as we don't give up the Memphis pick or the Sac pick

It is a hard time of year for a player.  The media is relentless and the guy is frustrated.  Don't expect sports stars to be the standards for moral behavior, often it is a highly competitive nature and ego coupled with ability and talent that got them to where they are folks.

Yeah that trade makes no sense for Boston.  I wouldn't mind Beal, but that is just awful.  If Irving gets moved, I'd rather move him for a young piece or 2 and some draft picks.

Good point. It really is time to leave Kyrie alone. The more I think about it, I don't think he said anything negative in that video yesterday to the media. The guy just seems frustrated with having to answer the same questions. Couple with the fact, that players have a hectic enough NBA schedule. Irving is only human. I'd probably feel ticked off at the media circus as well. Let's moooooove on...............

If I had to bet right now, which player on the current team has the highest chance to still be here on the Celtics roster in two years time, my bet would be Kyrie Irving.

I’m not part of the anti-Kyrie (or the Kyrie is bae) group, but he makes it easy to not believe in his commitment here.

Regardless of how he feels about the media or this new role he’s not accustomed to, he doesn’t handle it great.

IF there is any part of Ainge that feels he’s gonna leave, he should seriously contemplate moving him.

Just think about it: we trade Tatum and Brown for Davis before the draft, then Kyrie leaves, then Davis leaves the year after. We’d have no Kyrie, no Davis, no Tatum, no Brown. Maybe no Horford or Morris either.

Obviously extreme, but now conceivable. The fact that Davis doesn’t believe Kyrie will resign in Boston has to hold some weight. They are buds and I don’t think he would just use Kyries name to make his way to LA.

Kyrie definitely beats to his own drum and he just isn't a good fit in Boston.

The Celtics History, Tradition, and Culture just isn't what he's all about.

If anything it's TOO much pressure for him and he probably should move on.

Only the mentally strong can lead teams in Boston and ultimate be a Celtic Legend.

Exactly!  This is the type of attitude I expect out of anybody in his position...a star player on the last year of his contract.  People question his "commitment"...those words are his commitment for now.  WIN!

He knows he has options and will do what's best for him and his family.  Isn't that what WE do on a daily basis?

Most of these media heads are trying to drum up stories to push AD to the Lakers because they fawn over Bron.

The problem with Kyrie not squashing it. This gives the Pelicans more power to holdout for more. If Kyrie would just say hes staying then the Pelicans lose some leverage. Ainge won't have to go into negotiations from a position of weakness.

Kyrie has no idea how this is effecting his own team. How do the players know he's all in for the playoffs and if we lose he's gone.
