If the Knicks are #2, there is no #2 because Davis says he wants to win.  The Knicks aren't winning anytime soon with that organization and that owner so there's no way that's true. Dolan is an idiot and the players know it.
Presumably, the Knicks would trade for Davis and then sign a massive free agent in the off season.  Maybe that is Irving.  Maybe that is Durant.  Maybe that is someone else.  Lebron went to the Lakers believing they would eventually land him a running a mate or two even though the two people running the show have no track record at all and the owner is very new to ownership.  Sometimes you just have to take the leap and be that first player.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

I think GSW keeps Curry, Klay and KD together. I could see Draymond being the odd man out.

NY "is" no 2. just because of the power of the media and the click baits they can produce, there is no other logic except that one.

AD wants to win - goes to NY?

Every day that goes by without a LAL deal increases the C's chances.  Monday can't come soon enough!

The NBA media is dying for the Lakers and Knicks to be relevant again. Hence, they're going to spew whatever nonsense they can think of.

Durant and Irving have been linked to the Knicks for awhile (not together per se but in general).  Thus linking Davis there makes some sense especially given the Knicks potential assets

unless he thinks he is running out of money, that would not be real great idea .  He is in the perf ct situation with players that share pretty good , glory , ball and money .

After , this year and maybe next ,  I feel father time catching Lebron ,  i can see the road being the same as Kobe s last years.   Will get to the point Brons attraction to mega stars drys up.

I know that it's the internet, but let's take a step back and look at this rationally.

First, we'll work under the assumption that Sheridan is correct. The Celtics have a bunch of of disgruntled players. Is it because of permanent issues, like management sucks and the players hate Stevens? I think not.

Here are the two issues:

1) There's a lot of talent on the team, and players who might be starting elsewhere are relegated to a bench role.
2) Kyrie is frustrated that everything's falling on him and that there are no grown-ups on the team. In other words, he's frustrated about #1.

So the Celtics trade for Davis. You have to assume that at least two of Rozier, Smart, Brown and Tatum are going out the door. Now let's look at the team:

1) We've just taken two players out of the 1-3 positions. Let's say that it's Smart and Tatum who go. Start Brown at the 2 and play the "3-man rotation" backcourt, like we did when it was IT, AB and Smart. It's not perfect, and Terry's not going to be thrilled, but he'll certainly see more playing time.

2) Kyrie now has his buddy AD. Instead of dealing with kids, we've now got Horford starting at the 4 and Hayward at the 3. I know that it's fashionable to say that Hayward is never going to be the same player, but I'm guessing that he'll look a lot better than he did this year. Brown is happy because he's starting, while Rozier will at least get a little more playing time.

3) AD spends 43 games a year staring up at the banners, wondering when his time will come.

But maybe that's just me.

Mike

yup.....they could get some young pogo sticks , cheap players to pick up the rebounds for Green .   He d be missed for sure . .

The other three are NOT replaceable .  That scoring punch is what makes em near unstoppable.  One of the three will lay 40 on ya every night .

Very true, and I agree, that losing Dray would suck, but all they really need is a solid guy that can switch/defend. Someone like James Johnson could fit Dray's role pretty well to be honest. Klay/KD/Curry being able to go off any time they want is downright scary. If they keep DMC, that would only make their team even better.

I dont think Danny trades either brown or tatum anymore

They have proven their value to the team.

Instead look at what other pieces can move in a deal.

I think at this point in time the biggest preferences to go out are rozier in a s and trade and a close to returned to form hayward and picks.

Perhaps gordon to a third team.
Expiring and youth from third team to pels
Terry and picks to pels.
Davis and moore to boston

Pelicans is not moving AD without starting at with either Brown or Tatum, plus one of the Memphis Grizzlies pick. Get real.
