I remember when KG said he had no interest in joining the Celtics and wanted to go to L.A. It was cute, really.

I mean, does everyone here have memory problems and forget that we went through this literally this exact same scenario in the last 18 months with Paul George?! Lol

I don’t get how people are not seeing right through this. It’s the classic LA machine tactics.

Did George actually have his reps say he only wanted to go to LA and wouldn't resign anywhere else? I mean it was heavily rumored he wanted LA but I don't remember this strong of a statement.

Telling ya, if we cannot get Davis, if that ship is sailed then get me NYKs pick unprotected for Kyrie...If pick is not #1 draft Barrett, draft a Horford replacement, draft a pg and be done with it.

That hasn't happened yet with Davis.  The quote was "multiple league sources expect the agent and star to soon deliver word throughout the league that Davis' preferred destination is the Lakers and he'll become a rental player until 2020 with a trade anywhere else".

Why would NYK trade a pick for a player the can sign this offseason?

New article from woj about Pels ownership and he quietly injected this paragraph in the middle:
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25872174/anthony-davis-crisis-test-pelicans-ownership

It's somewhat transparent that Davis is interested in getting to the Los Angeles Lakers, which is why his trade demand is coming now, when other expected bidders are compromised. The Boston Celtics can't really get involved because of trade rules related to Kyrie Irving. The New York Knicks' potential best offer will be murky until their draft position is known in the spring.

because we asked them to.
lol

but it does allow them to sign Butler first, then sign Kyrie afterwards giving them those 2 plus Kristaps

thats the subtext people are missing imo.

If Davis had other places he wanted to go he would have waited till immediately after playoffs, or after NOPs season ended to make this claim.

Making it days before the deadline takes out some of the suitors he might have had, making it harder on NOP to trade him anywhere other than he wants.

All I know is with more and more concern that Irving is not going to resign, that objective need to change, and change fast.

Horford is declining, Hayward is currently trash contract.

Davis definately doesnt want to come here because he would have never requested a trade at this point in time knowing that Boston could not trade for him.

And if Davis doesnt come, I cannot see Kyrie staying when he can potentially go to play with Davis in LA and the 2 of them take over after lebron(phone calls have repairs their relationship)

Kyrie for Kanter and the Knicks pick

Hayward for expirings

And we end up back in the toilet again??....no thanks.

I am all for trading Hayward, but I don't believe any rumors suggesting there's "uncertainty" over Kyrie staying or going. Also, Al Horford has played really well since coming back from his injury for a guy who's "declining."

Gotta love the gloom and doom.

If I had assurance that Kyrie wouldn't resign, then I would trade him now

The only assurance that Kyrie won't re-sign is being created by the media to stir s** up.

well that is speculation, unless you have behind closed door knowledge.

Haynes’ reporting is speculation, too.

More meat to his statements than to the opposed

So are we totally disregarding now what Kyrie told STMers back in October?

Maybe but he has told coach he will play out the season if necessary.

Certainly.  The door swings both ways here.

Haynes is known to have some wild takes that I'm sure he sources (to an agent or rep) but they're pretty nuts. He doens't mind swinging and missing.

I wouldn't count what he said before the season as cannon.  I don't think he was lying - at the time he felt it wouldn't make sense to leave.  That could change after the season.  And the story won't be that he broke a promise to STHs.  It'll be that he's moving to another team.
