I got enough positive feedback with my first podcast with KG Living Legend ( https://forum.celticsstrong.com/index.php?topic=98486.0 ) that I decided to ruin the good vibes by making a second episode.

In the episode 2 of the “Strangers Celtic Podcast”, I call the infamous u/BillHondoBirdTruthJB from Reddit. BillHondo’s controversial opinions have quickly built him a reputation of being a troll/hater on the Celtics subreddit. In addition, quite a few people have accused the two of us as being the same person - something I’ve been anxious to get to the bottom of.

In my chat with BillHondo, we try to figure out if we’re actually alts of each other, debate whether Kyrie Irving is actually the best player in the Eastern Conference, consider our best-case scenario with the Kings pick, discuss the nature of burner accounts in NBA fandom, deep-dive into BillHondo’s deplorable opinions on Jaylen Brown and Gordon “Nic Batum” Hayward, determine whether Marcus Morris is having an all-star season, sort Reddit by our most controversial opinions, talk crap about Kobe's Oscar, consider whether a Kevin Durant sign-and-trade to Boston is at all plausible, dream of a Kyrie/Davis/Durant trio, and try to set some New Years resolutions.

If you like this at all, please subscribe to my YouTube channel.  Thanks.

Eddie20... will you be my next guest?  These first two have been people who agree with me too much... I think I need someone to just tell me how much I suck for an hour.

No discussion of Jaylen's lingering hand injury?

Otherwise, great discussion of the frustrations with Jaylen. But I'm much higher on Jaylen figuring it out than you two though! Usage is, yet again, still going to be the issue - as you mentioned LarBrd..

He probably gets traded.

Also, has any FA ever signed with a team and subsequently been traded? (Of course I ignore Dwight and Atlanta, and also Rose and Chicago)

Dwight because it was mutual, Rose because Chicago were forced too.

Let me know when you throw it on iTunes and I’ll sub. I listen to podcasts when I commute, doing strictly YouTube is not going to work.

That said I like what I heard. Maybe show these Forums a little more love though

although it seems very counterproductive to the whole idea of having a podcast, I’m not sure yet if I’ll put them on iTunes. My side goal has been to drive subscribers to my YouTube channel, because that’s where most of my content is going to end up.  Video is what I’m strongest at.  Honestly part of my motivation is getting beyond YouTube’s annoying subscriber threshold.. I know I’ve created some entertaining video content in the past, but I use to just throw them randomly on streamable with no channel behind them.  I had 3 Celtic-themed videos end up with 30,000+ views each and realized I was stupid not to have those in a channel.  The thing is, YouTube’s new rules require you to have at least 1000 subscribers before you can unlock things like monetization.  Not that I have a goal of making money on this, but it’s just annoying that there’s been times where I’ve made a video that’s gone semi viral with a half million views, and wouldn’t even have the option of enabling a little ad on it even if I wanted to.

So I guess my mindset has been “eh, I’m just gonna start slapping content on my YouTube channel more frequently and try to get some subscribers”... and in general I’m just experimenting with different types of content.  I don’t know whether I’ll continue this video podcast but it’s been fun to push myself out of my comfort zone.

I was telling this to a friend last night who runs a creative agency and he was like “all of the popular YouTubers start by buying fake subscribers and then they buy a bunch of fake views so they end up on trending... it’s cheating but that’s an option”... but like... I want to just see if I can do it organically.  It’s a hobby. Even if these things only get like 20 views and I get bored with it, it’s just kinda interesting and I’m having fun with it.  And for what it’s worth, the side goal of trying to get some subscribers to my channel was secondary to just wanting to have some conversations with folks like KG living Legend beyond text.  The first two calls I’ve done have been pretty fun.

I might look into seeing how painful the process is to actually get something up on iTunes, though.  There’s been enough semi positive  feedback from Reddit to these “podcasts” that it might be worth exploring.

It’s pretty good, but a couple things to help reach a bigger audience.

1) Spend less time talking about online personalities.  I’m not on Reddit so I have no idea who your guest is. An introduction and background of the person is good, but a wider audience is going to be more interested in the Celtics stuff.

2) You touched on a subject that is very interesting, but kind of left me hanging. Career arcs of FT% related to 3P%.  There are many players throughout history who became respectable to good 3P% over time like Magic, Kidd, and you have someone like Horford who never shot 3’s then started.  There was some comparison to Butler but some more in depth analysis about career arcs of FT% related to 3P% would probably get more people interested.

It’s as simple as linking a soundcloud. Also, don’t depend on YouTube for monitization. Do what other podcasts do and sell reads.

The audio sounds fantastic, which condenser mic are you using?

I'm just using a simple Blue yeti USB mic that you can get on Amazon for less than $100.  I didn't look up any podcast best practices or anything, I'm just kinda winging it.  When I called KG Living Legend, I just did a Facebook call.  With BillHondo, I did a Google Hangouts call.  In both instances, I recorded my mic feed directly so it didn't result in any kind of compression or anything, I guess.

FWIW, on your comment about spending too much time on online personalities - this one was a bit unique in that daily people accuse either BillHondo or I of having burner accounts on Reddit's Celtic sub.  Something I'm 100% certain I've never done... and something he denies as well.  And there's a handful of people who have accused us of being the same person ... so I did want to spend some time just killing that.  I don't expect that I'd do another one like that.

I totally disagree. I love what you are doing spending time on the online personalities. I had that very same idea I wanted to execute just more centered around these forums.

You need to separate yourself from the LockedOn, CelticsBeat and the million other Celtics Podcssts out there.

I understand.  I know it’s a delicate balance too, and you are doing a good job at your first crack at it as it’s not easy.  I hope your audience expands.
