Let me know when you throw it on iTunes and I’ll sub. I listen to podcasts when I commute, doing strictly YouTube is not going to work.
That said I like what I heard. Maybe show these Forums a little more love though
although it seems very counterproductive to the whole idea of having a podcast, I’m not sure yet if I’ll put them on iTunes. My side goal has been to drive subscribers to my YouTube channel, because that’s where most of my content is going to end up. Video is what I’m strongest at. Honestly part of my motivation is getting beyond YouTube’s annoying subscriber threshold.. I know I’ve created some entertaining video content in the past, but I use to just throw them randomly on streamable with no channel behind them. I had 3 Celtic-themed videos end up with 30,000+ views each and realized I was stupid not to have those in a channel. The thing is, YouTube’s new rules require you to have at least 1000 subscribers before you can unlock things like monetization. Not that I have a goal of making money on this, but it’s just annoying that there’s been times where I’ve made a video that’s gone semi viral with a half million views, and wouldn’t even have the option of enabling a little ad on it even if I wanted to.
So I guess my mindset has been “eh, I’m just gonna start slapping content on my YouTube channel more frequently and try to get some subscribers”... and in general I’m just experimenting with different types of content. I don’t know whether I’ll continue this video podcast but it’s been fun to push myself out of my comfort zone.
I was telling this to a friend last night who runs a creative agency and he was like “all of the popular YouTubers start by buying fake subscribers and then they buy a bunch of fake views so they end up on trending... it’s cheating but that’s an option”... but like... I want to just see if I can do it organically. It’s a hobby. Even if these things only get like 20 views and I get bored with it, it’s just kinda interesting and I’m having fun with it. And for what it’s worth, the side goal of trying to get some subscribers to my channel was secondary to just wanting to have some conversations with folks like KG living Legend beyond text. The first two calls I’ve done have been pretty fun.
I might look into seeing how painful the process is to actually get something up on iTunes, though. There’s been enough semi positive feedback from Reddit to these “podcasts” that it might be worth exploring.
