It’s worth it for TOR no matter what

Brown is like Colin S and how the Kyrie trade is viewed by some

If C’s had given up Brown+, a popular view would be to wait and see if Kawhi re-ups no matter how good Kawhi is, unless BOS miraculously wins the ship

let's see if Kawhi joins another team like LAL/LAC next summer
same argument that is used with the kyrie trade, will he re-sign or not
Obviously Toronto wants him to re-sign, but I think they are "ok" if he doesn't since they had peaked as a team with DeRozan and his gigantic contract was going to hamper any shot at rebuilding (and they only also gave up just a late 1st and a mid-tier prospect).  If Kawhi leaves Toronto will just go into full bore rebuilding around Siakam and OG, and just go into asset sell off mode, which they will be able to do much easier without DeRozan on the roster.  It was worth the shot for them.  Not quite the same as the Irving trade where Boston gave up what ended up as the 8th pick, though Boston got 2 years from Irving, so that also softens the blow from that end.

It's true. The threat of Kawhi leaving this summer doesn't mean as much for Toronto because if they hadn't done the deal they still would've blown it up this summer anyway. Lowry and Ibaka are both having very good seasons and as the salary cap stabilizes, expiring contracts (both have one year after this) are becoming valuable again. Of course Toronto would prefer keeping Kawhi, but they will still be in a good position to rebuild if Kawhi leaves.

The same would not be true for Boston, who would be caught in the middle if they gave up assets and then Kawhi bolted.

anyone who says we wont win a championship with the Klaw does not know his basketball.

Toronto IS leading the East with a Leonard that taking days off, His supporting cast is much better in Boston even if he does takes some days off.
and remember the Warriors could not beat the Spurs with a healthy Kawhi, so why should we be afraid of the Warriors if we had Leonard.

The really downside is we only get a yr out of the trade should he leave. but if it nets us an additional championship, then I call yhat trade a win....ofcourse another factor would be injuries because we obviously won't win anything should the Klaw goes down, just like right now. The Raptors are done if Kawhi goes down with a season ending injury.

We'll never know what would have happened in an entire series, unfortunately. I'd still pick GSW to take care of business despite the G1 loss.

That Toronto GM is a known crap shooter. That deal for Leonard could backfire if he chooses to go to warm LA instead of cold Toronto.

Nonetheless, the Raptors are showing a better rounded game than the Celtics, who may have more talent. What hurts the Celtics is their overreliance on the 3. Guys who can't shoot the 3 shooting it too much. Not enough going to the paint. And nobody, really, to defend against good big men in the middle.

You take a kid like Williams, who doesn't know defensive rotations well. You plant that kid near the basket and protect the rim. Forget the perimeter. Big men don't shoot 3s anyways, and they are feasting on the Celtics.

Kahwi is gone after this year to LA

Ainge is holding onto assets for Davis. Even if we lose out on Davis, I don’t think Ainge or ownership want to live thinking “what if”

This A trade package and asset collection for a Davis trade proposal has been in the making for years

TP. Totally agree with that last part (and have no idea where Kawhi will be next year). He's waiting on Davis. Anyone remember how long he waited on KG before pouncing?

Jaylen will be fine. He just needs to get out of his own head.
