Terry Rozier is an excellent back up point guard. He has proven himself in the playoffs, he's a team guy, plays his butt off.
On the other side, he's a streaky shooter and his contract is coming up.
If you try one of these trades for this year's draft you have a lottery rookie deal for a guy who needs a couple years when the Celtics are hell bent for the NBA finals....thus,
Keep him for this year.
If Smart stays, you have Rozier, Tatum, Morris and Smart off the bench.
You are telling me you don't want Tatum, Morris, Smart and Rozier off the bench in the NBA finals?
You want some number 14th pick guy who might not be getting minutes instead of that?
Those players are absolutely NBA playoff veterans now. They all ground out three rounds playing starter's minutes against the Bux, Philly and the Cavs.
Of course, they lose Smart and this concept is over, but, remember this, Terry rozier is an excellent defender and that is probably the only element that will give the Celtics a chance against the Warriors next year.
