The New Orleans Pelicans have begun to provide teams interested in trading for Anthony Davis the framework of a package they are seeking including multi-team scenarios.
David Griffin had previously hoped to convince Davis to remain with the Pelicans.
The Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets have been among the teams inquiring with the Pelicans. The Boston Celtics are in a "holding pattern" and must take into consideration the future of Kyrie Irving before committing to a significant offer to the Pelicans for Davis.
Griffin hasn't sounded convinced that a single team will be able to fulfill what he is seeking for Davis and is working to find multi-team scenarios.
Griffin would prefer the acquisition of 2019 draft picks be completed before the June 20th draft. Griffin is seeking an All-Star, a young player with All-Star potential and two first round picks with those wishes on a sliding scale.
Thanks but old news. It's been being talked about all day
When Griffin says an all star let’s look at the 2019 players in the All Star game. James, Durant, Leonard, Harden, Irving, Giannis, and Curry aren’t going anywhere in a Davis trade. All stars Lowry, Vucevic, Middleton, and Aldridge aren’t really valued as an asset like Tatum. Does it even make sense to pair a vet all star like George, Westbrook, Thompson, Beal, Lillard, Griffin, or Walker with Zion as they would be on different timelines? We are left with all stars Russell, Jokic, Embiid, Simmons, and Towns.
Maybe he is talking about Philly, Denver, and Brooklyn (Towns isn’t going anywhere in a Davis trade). Russell as a part of a sign in trade with Levert and other pieces? Jokic, and say Murray with other pieces? I don’t think Denver would risk losing AD in a year. Philly possibly, but they aren’t in any rumors.
Who knows but there aren’t a ton of options when a Griffin says “all star”.
