No matter what happens I hope the lakers still have Lonzo past the deadline.  Lavar will not be silenced any longer.

I feel bad for Lonzo. He seems like a good dude, his dad is killing his life and career

I can't stand Lavar Ball BUT he's not wrong, Phoenix would be a great fit for Lonzo.

Can't remember where I read it but someone said the Pelicans could just be getting the lakers to ante up as much as possible, set the market and then THAT becomes the starting point in the offseason.

Here's an article by Woj written in December that describes exactly what's happening right now.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25587459/small-market-gms-upset-lebron-james-pitch-anthony-davis

"It's New Orleans' problem today, and a problem with a different player tomorrow for the rest of us," one Eastern Conference GM told ESPN. "It's open season on small markets and our players."

"If these are the rules, enforce them," one Western Conference GM told ESPN. "If you want to push Anthony Davis in L.A., if you allow LeBron to interfere with teams, then just do it. Change the rules, and say, 'It's the wild, wild west and anything goes.'

"Interference is as bad as tampering -- maybe worse in this case," one Eastern Conference GM told ESPN. "This becomes a campaign meant to destabilize another organization, install chaos and unrest that make it harder to keep an environment that the player would want to stay in. There's no use in complaining to the league about it. We all get that it's a players' league, but there are rules on the books that they need to follow, too."

I hope there are some repercussions for the Lakers, Rich Paul, and Lebron for what is going on right now, not that I expect it.  But that Eastern Conference GM is right.  This is installing chaos and destabilizing another organization.

What rules are being broken? Is there a rule stating a player can’t ask for a trade while under contract?

Players and their agents can't publicly demand a trade while under contract.

The Celtics have refused to directly dangle Jayson Tatum, two sources familiar with the situation told SI.com, but the Pelicans have been left with the impression that if Davis remains on the roster past Thursday, nothing is off the table.

Sounds very plausible.  The Pelicans should do everything in their power to find a similar haul to our deal with the Nets in 2013.  It isn't about a single All-Star prospect.  The Pelicans need multiple assets that be used to build the team through a series of future moves.  Let's say they acquire Tatum in a deal with Boston.  What's the real plan after that?  We know that free agents aren't part of their equation.  They need picks, picks, and more picks (ideally 2 or 3 with lottery potential).

I know it isn't as much fun, but, the Pelicans HAVE to wait for summer.

It is Demps' responsibility to get the highest return for the player.

Pelicans have to offer their fans players and picks so they agree they got the best deal.

The NBA lives on this trade controversy crap. Trading Davis in July is a DREAM come true for the league. It's marketing.

The market for Davis was set about a year ago. Demps knows what he'll get, Magic knows and Ainge knows. This is just twitter noise for the benefit of merchandise sales and everything else. Look at the websites. It's a soap opera on steroids.

I wanna go here
I wanna go there
We got him
No, we got him
We'll give this
We'll give that

It's puke and Woj and the rest are paid to barf it.

Even if LA gets him this week? That just proves it was jive all along. The Celtics can't even bid.

Lakers vs Lakers

Whoop de do.

Are the only real incentives for NO to take the Lakers offer now are that league might force them to play AD and thus win more games that would devalue their own pick or that he might get seriously hurt and kill any deal? Otherwise, they should wait.

Half their board seems to hate the proposed trade.

Now that's the kind of homerism we can relate to. Future MVP candidate Ingram AND future All-Star Kuzma AND best defensive PG in the league Ball for one guy???

This post in that vein cracked me up:

Quote
I rated if i where to rate the Lakers and Celtics young guys my list would be

1. Ingram
2. Tatum - barely ahead of Kuzma
3. Kuzma
4. Lonzo
5. Zubac
6. Hart
7. brown

Or this:

Quote
wouldn't mind

KCP for Vucevic (maybe add a 2nd rd)

Zubac + Ball + salary for Beal (maybe add a 1st rd to sweeten)

Then pick up Melo to fill up roster

LOL Zubac ahead of Brown.

Why the heck would anybody place Ingram ahead of Tatum?

Ingram stinks.  What evidence do we have that he helps a team win, like, at all?

Ingram shoots a higher percentage than Tatum and averages more points. ;)
