I read Tatum is in a boot for soreness.  If they really suspected a bone break folks, I doubt he would be walking around in a boot.   These guys health is their livelihood and they are valuable assets.  You just don't take chances with their health.  I could be wrong but that makes logical sense to me, that they would be err on the side of caution, with a player rather than its broke here is a boot for you to limp around and damage it more.

I hope this is fake news. I heard he broke his talis bone in ankle and is done for year.

Can someone confirm this ASAP. I hope it's just a stupid silly sports internet rumor...lets dispel this quickly.

Total rumor.

Something tells me he hurt it in the Hawks game. I remember him driving and came up with a slight limp but continued playing.

I noticed because I watch his every movement on the court. My man love is real and kind of creepy from a basketball sense. LOL

Does he wrap his ankles before a game? Can we at least get him in a pair of high tops? There have already been 2 instances where I was concerned about his ankles after he rolled one of them in game (once in the preseason and again during the regular season a while ago) and now this.

I hope he's doing everything to protect himself.

Agreed. If they suspected a break, they would have checked with an x-ray last night.  My bet is bone bruise (and he misses 3-5 games, mostly as a precaution)
I'm bitter.

Yes and no. The breaks inside the ankle, like the navicular (the Embiid injury), don't show up on an x-ray sometimes. They have to take an MRI to see it. That's what happened to me.

A walking boot helps the soreness, but these types of breaks can't get worse, which is why they wouldn't cast it or anything if they suspected it.

It feels like soreness. It hurts a little bit to push off of it, but that doesn't go away unless you immobilize it for 8-12 weeks. It doesn't get worse, but it does hamper your explosiveness considerably.

We'll see today. Needless to say I'm nervous about this.

Again, I have no insider information. Its all conjecture, but I can say that some breaks can't be seen with an xray, and walking boots are normal treatment for a suspected "nutcracker" type break.

CBS did say at the post-game, though, that they did do imaging last night (probably an X-ray) and will be doing more today (probably an MRI).

What also concerns me is that CBS relayed that Tatum didn't remember a specific incident that caused this.

My hunch was as yours: bone bruise here's hoping that's all, although real severe bone bruises can keep a player out for a long time.

I am glad that they are being cautious both with Tatum and Horford. Something tells me that last year's trainers may not have been.

I don't post much on this board. However, I can state that the differential in this case is quite Broad. I am a surgeon, so I have some knowledge of what could be going on. This could be anything from just a minor bruise or sprain to something more severe. The Imaging really will give us the details that are needed.

I have seen some pretty lingering and long-lasting injuries that resulted from an athlete that had no obvious trauma or impact to an area. So, I don't have any idea at the moment of how insignificant or severe this could be.

I really didn't want to hear all these worst case stories this morning ugh.

Well hopefully the MRI comes back clean and he's back on the court soon.
