Unleash semi and  yabusele

Semi maybe, unleashing yabusele =tanking because right now he is a project.

I read Tatum is in a boot for soreness.  If they really suspected a bone break folks, I doubt he would be walking around in a boot.   These guys health is their livelihood and they are valuable assets.  You just don't take chances with their health.  I could be wrong but that makes logical sense to me, that they would be err on the side of caution, with a player rather than its broke here is a boot for you to limp around and damage it more.

Agreed. If they suspected a break, they would have checked with an x-ray last night.  My bet is bone bruise (and he misses 3-5 games, mostly as a precaution)

Yes and no. The breaks inside the ankle, like the navicular (the Embiid injury), don't show up on an x-ray sometimes. They have to take an MRI to see it. That's what happened to me.

A walking boot helps the soreness, but these types of breaks can't get worse, which is why they wouldn't cast it or anything if they suspected it.

It feels like soreness. It hurts a little bit to push off of it, but that doesn't go away unless you immobilize it for 8-12 weeks. It doesn't get worse, but it does hamper your explosiveness considerably.

We'll see today. Needless to say I'm nervous about this.

Again, I have no insider information. Its all conjecture, but I can say that some breaks can't be seen with an xray, and walking boots are normal treatment for a suspected "nutcracker" type break.

TP for the info
I'm bitter.

Ainge was on SportsHub today morning. He said the ankle isn't broken so they're hoping for soft tissue injury.

I don't post much on this board. However, I can state that the differential in this case is quite Broad. I am a surgeon, so I have some knowledge of what could be going on. This could be anything from just a minor bruise or sprain to something more severe. The Imaging really will give us the details that are needed.

I have seen some pretty lingering and long-lasting injuries that resulted from an athlete that had no obvious trauma or impact to an area. So, I don't have any idea at the moment of how insignificant or severe this could be.

TP. And I can tell that you're legit because you came on here and told us that you have no clue about this particular injury. A faker would have done otherwise.

Welcome aboard and post frequently!

Mike

Sucks that the Celtics, most likely, won't have Horford or Tatum for these big TOR & GSW tilts.

Super frustrating as a fan.

I don't have the link handy, but Toucher and Rich tweeted this right after the interview.  Though the comment doesn't make a ton of sense.  If they have already ruled out a break or fracture, then they wouldn't be "hoping" for soft tissue injury I don't think.

I don't understand how all these guys wear low tops. When I played almost everyone wore high tops or mids...especially bigs.

I know they get taped but playing in lows all the time, you're just asking for sprains and twists.

I just hope it's not the ankle from his Duke days because he was out for awhile.

It could just be a precaution? I mean, the boot would probably help the ankle heal properly and fast by keeping it stable.

Danny Ainge told @985TheSportsHub Jayson Tatum had X-rays on injured ankle. No fractures or breaks. "He just has, we're hoping, a soft tissue injury in the ankle joint, which sometimes can take a while. We'll have a better feel of that when we get the images back today." #Celtics
