Shame for Al, hope he gets quickly on the court again. Nevertheless, we got this at home.

Go C's!  ;D

Well hopefully the C's get Home-Jaylen for this game. He's had a hot and cold season but in his first 4 games at home he's putting up 20-5-2 on 61-61-78 shooting splits in 28 minutes. Hopefully he can stay out of foul trouble and get his game goin early.

What about Ojeleye? I feel like he will get a ton of minutes. 6'7 with a 7foot wingspan and dude is ripped. Plus he can shoot the 3. He is avg like 14 mins wouldn't be surprised to see him play 25-30 mins

Great. Some people theorize that Horford's concussion early last season had an adverse effect on him the entire season, but even if that wasn't true, this latest concussion is bad news. Although his absence tonight gives me a convenient excuse to use with my Laker friends if the Cs somehow lose. ;)

I hope the training staff helps Horford strengthen his neck to help prevent future concussions.

  • GOT IT!!!
This really sucks. You are asking a lot out of a bunch of young players with him gone for a while.

I hope this is just a precaution and nothing long term.
The concussion protocol is not a precaution. He'll have league-mandated hurdles he'll need to clear before he's allowed to return to basketball activities.

Here's a useful article from about this time last season when Horford was out.
http://www.nbcsports.com/boston/boston-celtics/with-al-horford-out-nba-concussion-protocol-explained

Also, suffering two concussions in one year is already "something long-term" and rather concerning. Just ask Mark Savard.

Nothing in that article precludes precaution as a factor in 1) a player entering the concussion protocol and 2) the pace at which the steps to complete the protocol are taken.

Al is rightfully very careful with injuries (especially this one after last year) and there's nothing saying the team isn't taking their time with the protocol steps to make sure Al is comfortable before clearing.

Based on current minutes played, might look something like this.

Irving 33  Rozier  15
Smart   29  Rozier  9   Larkin  10
Brown   32  Morris  9   Nader  7
Tatum  32    Morris  12   Yabusele  4
Baynes  19  Theis  13  Ojeleye  16

I would expect Baynes to be asked to play 24 minutes and Theis 14 to 16.  Might have to go extremely small for 8 to 10 minutes. Probably see more minutes for Ojeleye. Not sure if Morris is ready for big minutes. Would be nice to see Yabusele get some meaningful minutes.

Also, suffering two concussions in one year is already "something long-term" and rather concerning. Just ask Mark Savard.

So, despite the long winded waffle in that article, he needs to pass a concussion test, and be cleared by a doctor. Which is extremely standard.

Whilst I agree that repeat concussions could be a concern depending on their severity, your penchant for immediately jumping to the most negative outcome in any situation is evident by mentioning Marc savard. The meaty part of Kent bazemore's arm coming down on horford's head after a pump fake and what happened to savard on the hockey ice on multiple occasions aren't even in the same stratosphere.

Relax.

I was actually concerned when seeing the play live and was relieved that he stayed in the game. Now I'm just wondering what the team can do to protect him long term. Multiple concussions scare me, especially considering how serious his last one was.
