Kyrie plays a much safer style than IT

It seems Isaiah elevated at speed and drew contact sacrificing his body for foul shots.He seemed indestructible and immune to pain as he hit the deck..A big part of his game was at the foul line.Isaiah gifted us with the best season for a Celtic guard ever.I find Kyrie much smarter and while athletic he doesn't put himself in a position to be swatted to the ground.I think Rozier has trouble on break away's and feeling vulnerable-i know i heard footsteps after two bad sprains coming down.Did you see Kyrie's breakaway hardly even elevated just extending using the back board.

It seems Irving is enjoying the youth ,Horford and Brad i know i am.

This I agree with, except the smarter part. It's stylistic not mental.  It's because when Irving attacks the rim he shoots before the defender gets there, using the necessary touch to just get it over their outstretched hand. As for Thomas, he sought out contact and often jumped into the defender in order to get the foul called. At his size it's not a style that lends itself to longevity and an injury, like the one that occurred, was likely to happen sooner or later.

I wouldn't say that IT was less smarter. I'd say Kyrie is just a bit better in all segments of play plus physicalities, which all summed gives us an upgrade on PG-position, and it is exactly what we have now. It all leads us to Brad again. There's no player in his hands that would turn out useless. His influence on these players was enormous: IT, AB, Crowder, Smart, Olynyk, even Jerebko and Gerald Green. I definitely believe all these player would probably ended up in NBA-mediocrity if there was no Stevens as their coach. This is what makes him the only active coach close to Greg Popovich.

Part of it is the fact that Kyrie doesn't have to work as hard because he's bigger.  IT came with everything (to his credit) but he could get swallowed up in the interior.  Not the same for Kyrie because he's 6'3".

Thomas was all heart, with obvious deft shooting touch, and body control. But Irving is more skilled, and his game as posters have said, leads to contrived longevity. He plays the game at a pace he's comfortable with, darting in and out, and they have similar hesitation and crossover dribbles. They are both actually really similar players, but Thomas tends to use his body more and initiate contact.

Irving is a better shooter, and I suspect in Steven's system over time, and once he gets immensely comfortable, will be shooting twice the amount of 3's, and making honestly twice as many as his career averages. IT averaged 8.3 3PA, which was almost twice as much as his tenure during SAC.

Irvng guards or protects his body better , staying low to the ground on drives.  Flipping it up .  It always was flying though the air between guys twice his size.  You just held your breath each time he does this.   It seemed to have little regard for his well being last year.   

IT worked harder for his buckets .  Gonna destroy his body. 

Irving seems to play more D now and less Iso ball....this seems to suit him and he appears to be be falling into a real basketball system as opposded to Lebron Wade we ll just win on Physical strenght and personal athletic ability.  ...we don't need a coach ...let us hoop.

I see this too which is why I think he wanted out.  He loves the game not the glory.  He's driven to be the best basketball player not the next poster child for Nike

I see a lot of IT in rozier which I hope he breaks from.  I think we witnessed roziers value yesterday with him taking the jumpers and threes when he has a look.  I think he's already ahead of where Bradley was as a shooter and ball handler at this stage of his NBA career.  Hopefully he settles down and gets better

I'm not equating smarter with more fun.  Those can be two mutually exclusive things.

Kyrie's not necessarily smarter, he just has a finesse game.  He couldn't do what Isaiah does.  I'm not sure Isaiah could play with the same finesse that Kyrie does, either.

Through the 6 games, the opposing defense has collapsed on irving with some consistency...less of late. "Irving off the ball" offers a response, not sure how it's gone in advanced stats land.

When Hayward is back or Tatum arrives and starts to rack up 30 point games? The "focus on Kyrie" strategy will head to the dustbin of history. That's going to be a fun trip to the dustbin.
