What's really refreshing about this team is that it's winning the way you win championships in this league.....offense.
Bad news man
2017 Celtics through 11 games:
Offensive rating: 105.5(12th in NBA)
Defensive rating: 95.9(1st in NBA)
2016 Celtics:
Offensive rating: 108.6(8th in NBA)
Defensive rating: 105.5(12th in NBA)
So then do we admit things like Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder weren't good defenders? And that Smart's has slipped?
This team could run last year's out of the gym.
I think Bradley and Crowder were severely overrated as defenders. Bradley was mediocre off ball and undersized. Crowder lost a step.
Marcus Smart is a great defender.
I held all these beliefs last year.
Its flatly wrong to say that tihs team has "won with offense". Of their 9 wins, theyve allowed the opponent over 94 points exactly 1 time.
That is winning with defense my friend. Now as Tatum grows and Irving settles into the offense and Mook gets comfortable, is this team better equipped to out-offense other teams than last years was? perhaps. This teams offense should be less fragile than last years.
However, to say that theyve won with offense, when their D has held 8 out of 9 teams under 95 points and has put up the best d rating in the league? thats just foolish.
