Good for the wolves. While it is a ton of money, Wiggins is one of the best young players in the game. It’s hard for them to sign talent and it’s good to see them not botch this situation with their young star like they did with Love. Have to do the same for Towns next year.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

How would Zach Lowe classify Wiggins, a D-minus superstar on a max contract?

it's not like they had much choice - he was getting it from someone so it might as well be them.  KAT will be looking for the same deal shortly.

Looking forward to seeing how Wiggins progresses this year. He could be a very good player if he commits more on defense and as a rebounder.

Disagree, Wiggins is better than that but not a superstar. He is a SG/SF version of Rudy Gay.

Man, that's a bit difficult to stomach for a completely one dimensional guy.

I mean really, Wiggins could be one of the most one-dimensional star players in NBA history - he really does not do a single thing at an average-or-better level besides scoring.  Playmaking, rebounding, defense are all woeful.

I have to disagree with you there.  Rudy Gay is more impressive physically than Wiggins due to his crazy length, as well as being more versatile due to his better outside shot, superior rebounding and arguably better passing instincts and bell handling skills.

I'm not entirely convinced Wiggins is a better then Rudy Gay in any area other then perhaps athleticism and volume scoring,

Or commits to defense and rebounding at all really.

Worth 148 million dollars.

A lot of money for a guy that should be a bench scorer on a championship team...

He is not even close to that. He is a volume scorer and nothing more right now. And volume scorers are the easiest player to replace or get on your team. You are basically paying a player to score in volume inefficiently and praying he develops other skills. Cause right now he has none.

Wiggins is beautiful to watch but that's about it for now.
Still got time to improve the other facets of the game though but as of now, it's doubtful.
Majority of NBA sees him as a future star. It's all for the show. Of course he deserves his money for that alone. Entertainment after all.
Minny is not a threat for us anyway.

Embiid  - Superstar, if healthy (IMO 50% to stay healthy)
Wiggins - Healthy, may become a superstar (IMO 33% to become Superstar)

I am sure that everyone has their own %s.
Which player/contract would you rather have?
