Semi was a top recruit out of high school
recruited and attended duke got trapped behind some very good players
Was red shirted at SMU by Larry Brown
Blossomed under his last season under Larry Brown at SMU
Trained at hoop house with tatum under watchful eye of Drew Hanlon
Best athlete at combine-the kid is dedicated and can really shoot
Lane agility and lateral speed,sprint
 40 inch vertical jump
taller than jay,as strong as jay
wide body, great defensive stance, lower body power
Brad will find a way--many think he is the steal of the draft-larry brown can't understand his draft position -thought it was an age thing.
Got recruited by two Hall of Fame coaches and played for both

Who exactly would "they" be? Knowing would be helpful as I evaluate a pundit's credibility.

Or lack thereof.

Bo, not sure why but Rollie has a knack for overrating fringe players. Same person that said "the stars aligned" when we signed Gerald Green last summer. Bottom line, if you suck and you're wearing green the chances of you being overrated is sky high (see Jerebko, Green, Nader, Semi, etc.)

So I've noticed.

I think that was a solar eclipse with the chronically basketball brain-dead Green, not the stars aligning.

Just curious if anyone reputable in the hoops world was handing out the same level of hyperbole.
For the record, I'd say he was spot on w Gerald Green. Rollie claimed he was a "stiletto" perfect for certain instances as a scoring punch and change of pace. He did exactly that and in fact "the stars aligned" and he won us a playoff series. Granted Rondo injury helped that cause.... but let's call it, green won it for the celtics and Rondo lost it for the bulls.

Second time that's been mentioned this thread, so apparently the legend of Gerald Green continues to grow despite shooting 17-39 in that "legendary" series and not offering much else in terms of rebounding, passing, or defense. 43% isn't exactly good. Especially when the majority of his shots were wide open.

As overated as I think Crowder is (Contract Value is not the same actually being a high level player, and his defense took a step back) there is no way Semi will have his production this year. Jaylen brown might get there, even that's probably unlikely, semi won't.

I had just listened to McHale and Isaiah talk about loss of grit with crowder and avery and it triggered what i saw at summer league and in his highlites at SMU and seeing his aggression and grit.
Defense can be taught but to be elite it has to be in the DNA combined with physical and mental attributes.Brad saw it.For some of us we played it
,Rollie Massimino taught it and instilled it.Team, ball you man, help defense.Down and dirty, growling intimidating defense.WE were one of the first vocal teams always communicating and taught howto draw charges.
SO i go do research on guys that show something and root for them'
Semmi 's father immigrated from Nigeria and is a DR his mother a nurse,he was class validictorian and national player of year.Recruited to Duke along with Jabari Parker but transferred to SMU where he became ACC player of the year under Larry brown. Was also a Academic All American.
Coach BOO!!! i suggest you read the breakdowns on net and see the amount of steal of draft articles.
Semmi has crowders dedication but maybe not the chip or maybe he earned one from the bench at Duke and red shirting a year.
I don't know how many hours we did side to side lateral while staying down and this guy has it-So you have elite athletic skills ,size weight distribution upper and lower body and a history of hitting the three at high percentage
.There is a video out that calls him the "Terminator" after he was drafted by Celtics. Others calling him steal of the draft.
I myself came out of nowhere and replaced the captain midway in my junior year .Rollie after 50 years goes "Oh Yeh! the skinny kid that was all over the court" at least i was remembered by a Legend.(for hustle)
I don't get it -i have become a target and quoted from over a year ago for complimenting players that play" basketball",Dwight powell, abdel nader.,jerebko who got the most from what they have .
Now i think that Semmi has ALL the tools to become a impactfull defensive presence while knocking downs three's-
I'm not the only one

We all love you here, Rollie. And we love your love of Celtic players. Its just sometimes you go overboard a bit in your praise. Semi has tremendous gifts, I don't think anyone here is disputing that. Semi has great potential, again I don't think anyone doesn't see that.

But can Semi replace Crowder in his first year? That is where people are disagreeing and why one or two posters are bringing up some flowery and possibly very overboard praise and predictions you had about other players. Personally, I don't care about that past stuff as I have made a bunch of predictions on this site that was off so who am I to throw stones at glass houses.

But, Rollie, Crowder was a formidable SF starter on an ECF team. He averaged 30 MPG, 14 PPG, 5 RPG, 2 APG, 1.5 SPG, with a TS% of .610 all while playing plus to great defense. Semi just isn't going to replace that in season one. Hayward will replace that and give even more.

If Semi works his butt off and earns minutes, he most likely will be getting those minutes due to defense and because of the clog in the wing/swing position should be happy to get Jerebko type minutes. I doubt he gets that. He'll get in during garbage time, if someone gets hurt or if the team is in a ton of foul trouble. But that is really it for this year. Simply put, Brown, Tatum and Hayward are getting the minutes. Semi won't.

I never mentioned time frame but think he will be used in specific circumstances and play on second unit but will become a defensive beast-Watch his defensive compilation from summer league.Or the video breakdown" terminator"  before he was drafted calling this kid a steal
I watched a video of danny watching a workout by semi out in LA with Drew Hanlon before the draft-
It never crossed my mind he would be a starter right off averaging 14 points-i said" he COULD eclipse crowder"
Then somebody else adds a time frame which leads to coach BOO.
