I saw several clips of monster dunks and putbacks
The intensity of his reaction the aggression and defiance if he channels that
he will be a menace with his lateral speed, agility and what looks like unmovable mass
.I believe he could eclipse crowder -
WE have marcus ,rozier, jaylen, morris, semi and baynes- for grit

Eventually? Maybe (but I wouldn't bet on it)

This year? Absolutely not.
I'm bitter.

Agree with BJ.

Crowder was well above average as a starter last year. We are not going to replace that with a late round rookie e.

Why not Marcus has made it his calling card from his rookie year
.Brad saw IT in him.And i'm only talking defense crowders defense i read, took a step back last season
Semi is a very good 3 point shooter and a highly recruited player that took awhile to find himself-Maybe he doesn't have the chip that crowder had but he is a much better athlete and even stronger.
Where he was picked doesn't matter

Long term, Semi could very well replace Crowder. However, Crowder wasn't the Crowder Celtics fans came to know and relied upon his rookie year.

Rookies rarely come into the league and make an immediate impact to wins. If Semi can play and show flashes of being good in a couple years then his rookie year will be a success.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Marcus was given tons of minutes as a rookie ... on a really bad team that was likely headed for the lottery if not for the IT trade.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Yes

They are like twins.  Crowder is a better/versatile defender at the moment but Semi already a better shooter at the same age. Plus can climb another level vertically

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It's not just about physical profile or having similar skills, Semi still has a lot to learn about the NBA game. I think he can be effective THIS year if Brad puts him in a position to succeed, but I don't think he will have the emotional fire or nuanced offensive/defensive skillsets that Crowder displayed this year or last...at least not yet, anyway.

Crowder was a late round pick as well, with less immediate upside.

Semi won't get the minutes to replace Crowder right away, but he may in time.

Maybe I'm in the minority but wasn't a fan of Crowder's game. Loved that he played "hard" and was a good player for the transition.

As for expecting a rookie to take that roll there is 0 chance. I don't think the roll Crowder played is the same as what Semi will be tasked with anyways.
ok fine

Completely agree. A late round rookie is simply not going to make a big impression on the 2017-18 Celtics or any other team. We go through this every year, and it never happens.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Wasn't that guy who won rookie of the year last year picked late in the draft?

Guys... Crowder is no world beater. He can be replaced no problem.
