Something struck me during the presser. Kyrie said he was watching film of Hayward two weeks ago. I couple that with Tatum giving up #11 awhile ago. I wonder how long this trade has been in the works. Then Kyrie goes on vacation with Tatum. I'm thinking it could've been even BEFORE Irving asked out and that's why he asked out.

Just some timelines that got me thinking.

Tatum wore 0 at Duke, he didn't give up 11 so Kyrie could have it, he dropped it so he could get his preferred number.

The shot at LeBron was rather amusing.

What did he say?

"Is there ever a such thing as one man carrying a team? I don't think so"

Definitely some shade there, IMO.

Awesome. Thanks.

What did he say?

He was asked about having to shoulder the load now and responded that no one player can do that alone.

Thanks.

I loved Hayward's green jacket. Very nice.

Everyone seemed really, genuinely happy to be up there. I'm excited.

I noticed that, too. Nice touch, Gordo.

Kyrie really is a rambler. It's like his thought process mimics his dribbling. Jukes this way, spins, zags that way, etc.
I agree with you about him being a rambler, but also with the guys impressed that he said the right things.  Yes, Irving pronounces his words perfectly but that definitely doesn't prove intelligence.  Rondo was a horrible public speaker but he's supposedly a super bright guy.  Bird couldn't speak either.

Hearing what "sources" say about him doesn't prove he's unintelligent, even though people take it as gospel. Since we don't know him then all we can go off is his words. You can't go by how he plays because I see a lot of unintelligent people who look like geniuses when playing (almost like a savant).
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Here are some highlights (I lifted these from the link below) for people who can't/couldn't watch the stream:

http://www.wkyc.com/sports/nba/live-updates-from-kyrie-irvings-introductory-press-conference-with-the-boston-celtics/470020887

Quote
Live updates to follow:

- Irving calls his career in Cleveland "an unbelievable journey" and an "unbelievable ride." Says he won't point fingers for his desire for a departure, but is looking forward to the opportunity ahead.

- Asked about the burden of carrying the Celtics franchise, Irving says he doesn't believe that responsibility falls on any one player. "The teams get remembered more than the players," he says. Notes the Celtics storied history, from both a team and player standpoint.

- Celtics GM Danny Ainge declines to comment about his communication with the Cavs over the past week as the two teams discussed additional compensation.

- Irving admits to asking for a trade. Says it's the most human thing he could have done and calls the decision "courageous." Says he's been "patiently waiting" through the entire process.

- Asked specifically about the last week as the trade waited to be finalized, Irving reiterates that he was patient. Says he cursed twice and ran out on the street to Atlanta when he learned the trade finally went through.

- Irving asked about now competing with the Cavs, he says that he'll defer to coach Brad Stevens from a strategic standpoint. Says the team has yet to meet collectively. "I'm just finally happy to get my jersey on this stage," he says.

- Stevens says "we all know what we're shooting for," in reference to Boston's championship aspirations. "It's going to be a fun growth process."

- Asked about playing for Stevens, Irving references the head coach's intelligence and calls it an "equatable" offense relative to every player's skill on the floor. "It's a constant wave in the game. It can change. It can go up and go down."

- Gordon Hayward asked about his relationship with Irving. Notes visit with Cavs in 2014. "Then LeBron came and that kind of squashed that." Irving laughs as Hayward notes that their journey has come "full circle."

- Kyrie: "We'll be tested in a number of ways." Notes the pressure the team is already receiving, despite so many new pieces having been put together."

- Irving admits that Brad Stevens' offensive system was a big reason why he favored coming to the Celtics.

- Kyrie asked about relationship with LeBron. Says he hasn't spoken to him since asking for trade. Calls relationship between them "special." Says he's at peace with that journey and is looking forward to starting anew. "Now that I'm sitting here, it just echos in terms of being appreciative of not only the Cleveland fans, but all of Ohio and Bron and that special team we had."

- Kyrie: "The brotherhood exists, even without all of this."

TP for sharing.

I don't know anything about suits but my first thoughts were that someone painted him into that because it fits him like a glove and that if he keeps flexing he's going to have a Hulk moment! He looks like he just stepped out of a GQ shoot!

I liked when they asked Irving about playing for Stevens.

Irving said he's only played against Stevens so far, Brad interjects and says he coached Irving in a game where they gave up 197 points.  So Irving reminds him that the game is played on both sides of the ball.

See Irving's defensive concerns are overrated!  ;)

I'm not reading any of the comments before I interpret what I just saw so not to affect my feelings.

KI is a smart dude who's thoughts seem to move like his crossovers. Most of us here with ADHD get that. His brain is way faster than his words so much faster he forgets what he was going to say because he's 6 thoughts ahead of it so he wings it. He hasn't learned to just keep it short so he rambles.

He's going to make for some interesting interviews and local talk show host are going to have a field day on him being a space cadet.

GH seems really excited. He's pretty much what you would expect his intro conference would be.

It's very clear they are building a team of gym nerds (smart on and off the court). Let's call it the James Young effect.
ok fine

Hayward spoke about the growth between him and Brad Stevens. Stevens jokingly says, "he couldn't even grow a beard back then." Reporter that asked the question, jokingly retorts back, "can you?"

Everyone laughs.

Hayward knows the growth, basketball player, and family man has molded him. Notes Stevens as a big reason for his maturity, and says he can't wait to get back into with him.

It was Wyc who asked "can you?"

I have ADHD too and I can ramble for hours so it didn't bother me as much, but a few people have mentioned it so it must be worse than I noticed (my family had to learn to tune me out very early lol). It's hard for me to stay tuned into what I'm saying and I have been trying to work on it for years. Oh well, I'm fine with talking to myself!

Irving reminded me of Robert Downy Jr in an interview.  Well, maybe not that bad.

Yep, he said he was going to ask AB if he would give it to him when he was first asked what number he would choose since 0 was taken.
