I'm not getting my hopes up that either is more than a fringe NBA player until I see them contribute in actual NBA games.
this is a great point. I keep seeing people say semi was a steal even though some mocks had him being drafted in the 40s. And he is a 2nd rounder at the end of the day. What percentage of 2nd rounders end up being players? I think it's less than 50%
When was the last time a 2nd rounder drafted by Ainge ended up contributing to the Celtics?
I think the answer is either E'Twaun Moore or Ryan Gomes.
Oof.
Why do we get attached to 2nd round picks at all?
Don't do this to me, man, Semi is the only guy on our team who I actually like and wanted us to draft. He's all I've got left in this world (sarcasm).
That aside, I see him more as a power three, if that's a thing, who can also play some guard and as a power forward in some lineups. I just hope that they don't relegate him to shooting threes, like in the Summer League, because his post game and ability to get to the line are two of his best traits, offensively, imo. Meh, who am I kidding? The guy could average 20 ppg with great defense in the preseason and never even see the court for us this year, if at all. Sigh.
