There must be some sort of window for voiding a deal. Granted, it is the offseason and there is an expectation that some players might not be available for physicals immediately, so the window might be really wide. But what is the cutoff for Cleveland to void the deal?

I think it would make sense for Adam Silver to take a look at what is going on.

1. Ainge overpaid according to most people.
2. The Nets pick really doesn't make sense unless both teams are agree Thomas will miss a significant number of games.
3. The centerpieces of this trade are the Nets pick and Irving.

With that in mind, this trade only makes sense if both teams already agree Thomas will miss a significant amount of time.

That said, I don't think we need him in this case.

Rolling this trade back is worse for the Cavs. Thomas and Crowder are obviously not in the Celtics future plans. We are selling low on Thomas anyway. Zizic and the pick are the most valued pieces in this trade and they will probably not have a problem playing for the Cs after being traded away.

I think we will know if the Cavs were playing games if the deal goes through without changes.

If Cleveland's doctors have found nothing different from what Boston's doctors have found, I say Boston should put some protections on the pick as a "thank you" to Cleveland for bad faith bargaining.

Cleveland has to certify the physical with the league by Wednesday. If the don't, the deal is void (unless they agree with the Celtics to extend that period).

If the Cavs were still shopping for offers, would that not be against the rules and punishable by massive penalties if discovered? I would not want to be the GM that lost 3 future first round picks due to this possibility. So far, nothing official from Cavs which could mean that the reporter who let this "cat" out of the bag is simply adding to the pile of fake news we have become so accustomed to.

What better way to get ratings at the end of the slowest month of the year for Basketball. I take everything I see with a grain of salt, especially after the election last year. It is fun discussing this stuff though.

I would also not be the one GM to push Danny and ask for more. He would call the bluff and walk and the offers for Kyrie would become worse. They would sure not be looking at a potential first next year as Kyrie would make the Suns a good deal better and the bucks woulds surely not be a top lottery pick as well with Kyrie joining the Freak.

Yes, but who is going to know? All they have to do is have the discussions and then come back and void the deal. Then in a few days announce a new deal. I put nothing past Gilbert.

I don't think there is a better deal out there but wouldn't they have either already voided it or called the deal into the league office?

On a related note, reading Fear The Sword has been highly entertaining. They seem to have one main writer, and judging by the sheer amount of articles he has churned out, he seems mildly obsessed with the trade.
