This is why I think a 2nd rounder should be enough

"Complain and ye shall receive.
The Boston Celtics have been granted a 2013 second-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a dispute over Jeff Green's medical condition, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Green was traded by the Thunder at the deadline in a deal that sent him and Nenad Krstic to Boston and Nate Robinson and Kendrick Perkins to OKC. After Green re-signed with the Celtics last summer, he failed his physical because of a heart condition and was forced to miss the entire season following surgery.
According to the report, the Thunder are sending a second-round pick that they own via the Bobcats.
Later Tuesday, the NBA issued the following statement explaining its decision and the awarding of the pick.
As part of a ruling in a trade disclosure dispute between the Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder, NBA Commissioner David Stern today awarded the Celtics a 2013 second-round draft pick held by the Thunder. Stern found that there was no evidence of bad faith or any intent to withhold information on the part of Thunder management or its physicians, but that Oklahoma City's cardiologists were in possession of information about Jeff Green that was not shared with Thunder management and that should have been disclosed to the Celtics in connection with the trade of Green in February 2011.
Under NBA rules, teams are required to disclose to each other in connection with trades any information in their possession or control about a player's prior injuries, illnesses, or other health conditions that could affect the player's ability to play NBA basketball at any point in the future. Green had surgery on his heart in January 2012 and did not play during the 2011-12 season.
"

We need silver to intervene... See that we did not have bad faith in disclosure, and we give a 2nd rounder as compensation. I see no difference in the situations. A deal was agreed upon, and the other team disagreed later on medical diagnosis that affected the following season. IT will most likely play next year so I think the 2nd rounder is more than fair

The remedy should be to void the trade or not, not to give additional compensation. The Celtics didn't do anything wrong.

No, he doesn't. And he won't. The two situations are not even remotely the same.

As far as I know our doctors weren't in possession of any evidence that wasn't handed over. We didn't do anything wrong. The Thunder did.

what im saying is - at worst, a 2nd rounder should fix this. Not including Tatum like they keep asking for

I agree that the deal as is needs to be accepted as nothing has changed. And we didn't do anything wrong

the key is what whether all the info we had was shared with Cleveland.  if so, the deal goes through as is.

yes ....but the Cavs medical staff don't agree with Celtics medical staff assessment

The Celts should ask for the Cavs medical report next..... unless Danny is sick and tired of this

just throw them a 2nd or two.

I don't think this works the way you think it does.

Isn't that up to Cleveland? At this point, they decide if the trade is voided, I think.

The Jeff Green situation is a different situation. In that case a trade was completed and subsequently information came to light that the Celtics didn't have all the information they needed at the time of the trade to make the most educated decision they could. In the Irving-Thomas case the deal hasn't actually completed yet, it's conditional on both players passing their physicals. It's not known whether or not Thomas has passed his physical - presumably this whole play from the Cavs to extract more assets is what they want to pass his physical and complete the deal.

But right now there's no deal, completing the deal requires passing physicals. This is just a negotiating tactic ("threaten to back out at the last minute unless you give me what I want") by the Cavs to see if they can turn a really good deal for them into an even better one. I'm guessing though that Ainge had factored this move of theirs into his calculus and had probably baked in the cost of giving up a second rounder to consummate the deal even before he agreed to the trade. He knows that they won't pull the plug on it, too much to lose on their end as well as the Celtics'. They will figure something out but it will involve at most a second round pick to allow the Cavs to feel good about themselves.

I feel bad for IT.  But, the Cavs are really looking like amateurs with their complaining.

I think Adam Silver needs to step in at this point. He can be that neutral third party as to whether additional compensation is warranted.

Quick question, I could be wrong, but isn't surgery up to the player and not the team?

Unfortunately he's the one getting shafted as a result of this last minute back and forth. Not really fair for him, but life very rarely is.

why not?

they don't agree? well lets see why

If they don't want to share their info....forget the added compensation. Don't you agree?
