Offer a 2nd or put protection in our 1st rounder. If they decline, walk

Let the cavs rot. We can literally take IT back and maybe use an injury exception or something. We have no rush. The cavs do

Problem with taking him back is it weakens the Cs big time. They go from a top seed in the east to like a 4 seed. They also have no legit PG for the future when they let him walk next season. I feel like they have gotten everything out of Thomas on the court that they can.

That leaves the PG job in the hands of Rozier and Larkin.

You said this elsewhere, and I'll say it again here: Smart would start at PG.

As a starter? I always felt he was much better coming off the bench than starting...but I guess he is better than Rozier

Boston believes it was completely transparent w/Cleveland on IT's hip injury, per sources. Expect Celtics to strongly resist any sweetener.

A lot of downsides to Cleveland rescinding the deal, but one underrated one - Kyrie waived his 15% trade kicker to come here. It's unlikely he'd do the same to go to a less desirable location. That makes him less appealing to his destination but also means Cleveland would have to take more salary back, which has a multiplier effect with them being well into the luxury tax, and the repeater tax to boot.

They can find another taker for Kyrie, but it's dubious if they can find a comparable offer. And reversing the trade doesn't just throw their rebuild into doubt, it will cost them potentially tens of millions of dollars. They don't have a ton of leverage here.

if kyrie comes out of nowhere and says he "won't play for anyone except boston"

The cavs will need to accept it. We already spoke with kyrie.. Idk the rules but I believe kyrie is currently a member of the Celtics until the trade gets voided. Hope someone on the Celtics talks him into leaking his desire to only play for us

My take: Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. 'em.

Either take the deal as it stands or walk, motherEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ers.

That's what a lot of us on here have been saying, too. Both Brad and Danny readily talked about IT's hip without any reservation before and after the trade.

Why in the world would they think that we would willingly give up the unprotected Brooklyn pick in addition to all of the players? The unprotected Brooklyn pick was obviously the extra assets involved to make up for IT's hip issues.

Apparently, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com is reporting that the Cavs are so far denying the extra asset request and are still reviewing their options.
