I totally agree, they needed IT to play point this year, and if they think he'll miss the season that changes things for them. Maybe enough that they void the trade. But I don't think that's a forgone conclusion. I think they also really want that pick, I think if there was something out there even close to that in value they would have taken that rather than send Kyrie to a rival. They're going to want to find a way, IMHO, to keep this trade in place. But, we will see...

I think this trade is all but done, Cavs will back out, Ainge won't offer more due to the crisiticm he got for offering so much to begin with.
Rumors said the bucks offered Middleton, Brogden and a first for Kyrie. I'd guess they're likely kicking the tires to see if it's still available.
Problem is if this trade falls through both teams start getting low balled because other GMs assume desperation. I think this is more the case with the cavs since Kyrie demanded a trade. We're no better off if Thomas couldn't play one way or the other. Hopefully by the deadline that Brooklyn pick is shaping up to be extremely valuable based on their record.

Can Adam Silver step in and force the trade to go through at this point? I would think Boston, Cleveland,  and Adam Silver knew Isaiah was damaged goods and would fail the physical. This smells like some back stabbing chess move on Cleveland's part. Was Cleveland's plan all along to not finalize the deal and blame it all on Isaiah's hip? The ramifications for Boston could cripple their season by having two returning discruntled players, and put Cleveland in the driver's seat for one last run with LeBron in the East.

The Cavs knew about IT's injury but they did not have a full assessment until they did their own exam.  If their staff thinks he needs surgery (and he might), that totally reduces the value of this trade for Cleveland and they need to rescind it.

If it is rescinded, I am not that worried about disgruntled players.  My guess is that IT will have surgery and miss most of the year if not the whole season.  Crowder's value is still huge, so he can easily be moved again.

At this point I am even leaning toward having it fall through so we can get the Brooklyn pick back and Zizic.  I do not want to give up another 1st round pick to get this done.

Ha I think the 22 pages on this thread are all speculation. Isn't that why we're on here, to discuss possibilities?
The Milwaukee piece was heavily reported, the rest is yes indeed, my speculation.
Either way calm down dude.

The question is whether they can reroute the package to NYK for Melo, keeping IT and sending Shump?

Throw Larkin in the deal and call it a day. Cavs are angling for renegotiation. I highly doubt that either side was THIS oblivious to IT's injury situation. Even if they couldn't check IT out in person, wouldn't there be medical files or something that the Cavs could've reviewed?

CLE had IT's medical records. What exactly did they find out that wasnt known before?

IMO it's better to accept voiding the deal than to give in to what appears to be a blackmail from CLE.

How do you know they had ALL the records? How do you know Boston had ALL the records. IT was said to have visited many doctors for their opinions. These doctors do not share their records with anyone without IT's authorization. Who is to say he gave Boston the opinions of ALL the doctors?

What are you even talking about?

I understand this is a tense time for Celtics fans, but this is not the time for conspiracy theories.

There are of course plenty of files that they reviewed, but all that matters in the final opinion from Cleveland's medical staff on whether IT needs surgery or not.  That is what this is about.  No one is oblivious to anything.  It is a disagreement in medical opinions, which happens every day in this world.

If they think he needs surgery they should rescind the trade.

The Cavs knew IT was gonna miss time all along. Only reason they agreed to play with boston was the IT injury. Its dirty business. Just look at what the Cavs officially wanted. They asked for Jayson Tatum but Danny is not giving him up so Cleveland thought they could make the deal go puplic to reach the hearts of Boston fans n use that against Ainge. This was the game Cleveland was playing the entire time.

Whats next ?

Cleveland tells Danny, throw in Tatum n deal is done. Ainge needs to sit tight on this. Tatum better not go anywhere. I say let the deal fall apart before parting with Tatum or the LA pick.

Agreed that no one is oblivious. Which is why this is a ploy for renegotiation. Nobody wants this trade rescinded. Cavs just want another pick (or player).

Danny should just call Cleveland's bluff and pull the deal.

Let them find a better offer than we can give for Kyrie.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.

SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine

not a bad idea .....let em get a couple late first rounders and a pair of bench quality rookies for Irving offers ....people all want the Boogie /George give aways now. ....thanks Pacer  ::).
If they are this stupid ...to turn down Nets unprotected for Irving ...somebody leaving anyway  ....they need their head examined
