Make no mistake LAL pick or Tatum are now going to need to be included..

Screw that. I would call for Danny to be fired if he added either, and I'm a huge Danny fanboy.

Well I doubt they would be going through all this to get another pick in the 20s lol. They want something major..
didn't the Celtics appeal the nba when Jeff green was discovered to have a heart condition and okc didn't tell them?

The Celtics accepted a 2nd rounder for their troubles.

Including an additional first rounder at this point is far and away worth the hassle and backlash that reneging this trade would do to the Celtics.

As tempting as it is to get the Nets pick back it's going to be really bad for the franchise if this doesn't go through.

I dont understand...

Why would it make us look back. Everyone knew about IT's hip injury. The Cavs are probably just trying to squeeze out some more off of us by doing this. We already overpaid, no need to add more. Stand firm and call their bluff.

I don't mean it'll necessarily make us look bad from an outsider's perspective.I mean that taking back a disgruntled, injured IT and Crowder is not a good thing for any facet of the franchise. And I love IT and Crowder...

Boston cannot let the deal fall through. Thomas has absolutely no value to anyone including Boston at this point. He is not going to be right this season.

Give the 2018 Boston first round pick Top 20 protected and get it done. Having to keep Thomas is a huge liability to this franchise now.

Exactly the mentality the Cavs want us to have. Panicking about having to take IT back so we give up more of the farm. We can deal with it guys..

Story posting soon on ESPN: After Thomas physical, Cavs planning to seek further compensation before finalizing Irving trade to Boston.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/901577881158950912

Can't imagine it's anything too extensive. I'd give them all the second rounders they want, but I'd limit any first rounder to one of our own or the lottery-protected Clippers pick. No LAL pick or Memphis pick or any other player added to the deal.

Agree. Celts got a second round pick for the Jeff Green thing. No way give up more than a Celts 1st rounder. I'd almost give them the Meph pick just to shut the the $#$# up and sign off on this.

Except things were with held with Jeff Green, and the CAVS KNEW going in IT had hip issues. If they had concerns they should have brought it up first, and said if he checks out to our liking we'll trade, but until then no official trade.

CAVS are trying to get ready for the LEbron bolt and want picks or young guys, its no secret. Now they got the Nets pick, and they want more and using this as leverage. Hopefully if it stalls Silver steps in, and hopefully in our favor.

Giving up a protected late first round or second round pick to get it done it not a panicking. Wouldnt give up any other player or the good first round picks

Danny doesn't make a trade without thinking that he is winning.  IT should have had surgery on his hip months ago.  But, he wants his brinks truck. The Cavs have incentive to see this trade completed.  Don't forget, he waived a no trade clause to make this happen.  He has some control of this situation.

A top-20 protected first round pick that is projected to be 28th or higher is hardly giving up the farm. I'm not sure why you think it's going to be anything major, and even if they do demand that Danny will just walk away.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I seem to remember Jeff green missing an entire season due to that heart condition. Haven't seen any reports of any substance that say IT will miss a whole season worst I've seen is he needs surgery and would miss 6 months.

Taking a damaged Thomas back hurts the Celtics because he is not playing for some time. That leaves the PG job in the hands of Rozier and Larkin. Plus we have to deal with Crowder again.

So really Boston is only taking back 2 players that can play and the pick. Thomas has no value to this team anymore.

Cavs are not resigning IT. They want the Brooklyn pick. That is the jewel with Crowder's contract. IT is meaningless them. Gone in a year anyway

Cleveland paper says their sources expect the deal to go through because they want the pick and they want Crowder:

"A Cavs source said the two sides need to reach a conclusion by Wednesday evening or mutually agree to extend the deadline. Though the Cavs could void the trade based on Thomas' injury, sources still expect a deal to get done.

From the Cavs' perspective, they need the draft picks and Crowder is an excellent wing defender who can help them against the Warriors. Even if Thomas misses months because of his hip, Cleveland has Derrick Rose on the roster to play point guard. When Cleveland won the NBA title in 2016, Irving wasn't a regular in the starting lineup until late December because of knee surgery.

Irving, meanwhile, completed his physical with the Celtics on Saturday."

I think he's speaking more from an internal standpoint. Sure, we can bring back IT and Crowder and maybe it'll all be fine, but you're not regaining that chemistry. Look at how things played out with Ray Allen. You can't unring that bell.

You can unring the bell with IT.  If the Celtics really feel that the Cavs are overstating things, they make a big deal of how he's going to have a chance to show the Cavs how wrong they were in the playoffs, and how you expect he'll play most of the season.  If he lives up to those declarations, he'll have a chance to get his big deal next summer, and if the Celtics offer the most (and include a trade kicker), he'll sign.  And that's not a change from before the Tuesday -- IT is taking the highest offer from whomever offers it.  If he's truly not healthy, unringjng the bell is largely moot anyway.

With Crowder, maybe it's more difficult, but he's super easy to trade with his contract, so if it comes to it, you find another deal that fills a need.

Zizic is too much of a rookie to take it personally, and if he does, oh well.

No, what Boston cannot do is give Cleveland another prime asset. That's far and away the most important thing.
