Make no mistake LAL pick or Tatum are now going to need to be included..

Screw that. I would call for Danny to be fired if he added either, and I'm a huge Danny fanboy.

Story posting soon on ESPN: After Thomas physical, Cavs planning to seek further compensation before finalizing Irving trade to Boston.

Can't imagine it's anything too extensive. I'd give them all the second rounders they want, but I'd limit any first rounder to one of our own or the lottery-protected Clippers pick. No LAL pick or Memphis pick or any other player added to the deal.

Lol all this BS for some second rounders? Make no mistake LAL pick or Tatum are now going to need to be included..
Danny Ainge should be fired immediately if he even attempts to give anything else of significance to the Cavs.

Well I doubt they would be going through all this to get another pick in the 20s lol. They want something major..

are the Celtics allowed to pull out of the deal once the Cavs demand more?
I'm guessing not.  If I were Danny I would say the Brooklyn pick makes the deal
a go as is.  Nothing more.  And I'll bet the Cavs take it, but hope they don't.

Of course they can back out. The trade was sent to the league office as is. If thry want more, they're basically renegotiating and both parties can walk away at any point..

This might just be semantics, but theoretically could prove relevant. Now, I'm not sure exactly how the process works, but I believe the Cavs are the only team with a right to void the trade. The idea is that we renegotiate so they don't exercise this right. However, I think it is theoretically possible that we balk at giving more and they concede that it's the best offer regardless and decline to void.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Nope. Danny won't overpay by that much. He'll just walk away at that point.

I think Max has it about right - a lightly protected pick of our own or the Clippers pick should do,

And if IT is as bad as is being reported, I think we still clearly win the trade.

Including an additional first rounder at this point is far and away worth the hassle and backlash that reneging this trade would do to the Celtics.

As tempting as it is to get the Nets pick back it's going to be really bad for the franchise if this doesn't go through.

Lol neither of those are even lottery picks. Guys, from their perspective, they're claiming its as if IT isnt even included.

I dont understand...

Why would it make us look back. Everyone knew about IT's hip injury. The Cavs are probably just trying to squeeze out some more off of us by doing this. We already overpaid, no need to add more. Stand firm and call their bluff.

It's pretty obvious. They are saying that IT's value has been reduced so far, we actually need to risk the Celtics walking away from the trade by asking for more. Extraordinary step..

I agree as awkward as itll be for the C's it wont be any smoother for them. Imagine media day for them with Kyrie having to report...I read he might not even want to report if he's not traded. He doesn't want to be there.

Celtics should invite them to walk away. No one else acceptable to Irving can or will offer them anything nearly as good as the BRK pick.

I think he's speaking more from an internal standpoint. Sure, we can bring back IT and Crowder and maybe it'll all be fine, but you're not regaining that chemistry. Look at how things played out with Ray Allen. You can't unring that bell.

But you can't just allow them to continue to demand more because you're scared of it rescinding. You have to have a line where you say..thanks but well take our chances..

Boston cannot let the deal fall through. Thomas has absolutely no value to anyone including Boston at this point. He is not going to be right this season.

Give the 2018 Boston first round pick Top 20 protected and get it done. Having to keep Thomas is a huge liability to this franchise now.
