We're bursting with forwards: Ojeleye, Hayward, Nader, Brown, Tatum, Crowder, Morris, Yabusele. We can't really stock so many on the roster, can we? Who are the odd men out? It looks like Nader, Yabusele, and Ojeleye are the ones who will be fighting to warm the bench.

Does anyone know how long we can keep Yabusele and Nader's rights if they don't sign? I'm too lazy to look it up myself.

Indefinitely, I think? As long as they agree to sign with non-NBA teams... but maybe I'm way off.

Indefinitely if they agree to it.  But if Yabusele does not sign with a professional team for the entire year, he could reenter the draft next year.  And the Celtics are required to offer Nader at least a 1-year, non-guaranteed deal at the minimum.  If he rejects it, they can keep him, but if he signs it, that's it.

Nader is likely the odd man out.  They tried him at point briefly in summer league, I think to see if he could be kept instead of Jackson, but that didn't work well.  I expect Yabusele will be on the roster but spend his time in Maine.  Nader likely gets a two-way contract, which will earn him some time in Boston and a few hundred thousand in salary.

I'd like to chime in here ref Semi, I live in the town Semi grew up in and have watched him mature since the 7th grade.(he was much skinner in middle school, but was allowed to play football those two years as well as basketball) He is not only all of what you guys say he is, he is also a very good quality person. While some guys on draft day were doing whatever they do, I can tell you Semi was at our local university(Ottawa University) the morning of the draft working out.(that's the kind of person he is) We are very proud of him here at home and wish him all success in the world for both he and the Celtic's. The only other notable athlete to come out of Ottawa that comes to mind that may ring a bell to you guys would be Steve Grogan?

You could be right, especially given that the trade deadline is going to be earlier this season.  I think he is a more realistic target than AD.  We could compete short term with MG, and long term with one of the bigs we pick up in 2018 or 2019 draft.  Trust the Ainge Process.

I dunno, Gasol is awfully expensive and he would overlap with Horford. I would trade Horford if we were going to pursue Gasol.

Agreed. I think Jackson makes the 15 man roster. Need his back up ball handling. He is looking better at that in SL.

Great post - thank you!  Glad to hear the kind words about Semi as a person and hard-worker.

I was a big fan of Grogan in the 70s/80s -- also a pretty hard worker!!

The more I watch Semi the more I root for him.  He rarely seems out of place in his rotations and it seems it's hard for players to get around him.  That will change in the regular season when the real competition begins but I think he is absolutely a NBA rotational type player from day 1.  10-15 minutes a game and I don't think he will look lost on the court.  I am definitely rooting for this guy and can't want for the season to begin.

I will say that I like the way Bolden from philly plays as well.  If he can hit 3's consistently he's a 3 and D type PF providing rim protection and spacing off the bench.  Nice pick.

I will be interested to see how the competition between Semi and Yabu plays out. I can see Semi getting more minutes initially, since he seems to be a more mature player, and looks pretty good defending bigs. 

The competition will do them both some good.

Yabu's upside seems considerably higher in my estimation.
