Semi went to Duke and then transferred to SMU.  If he had not transferred, and had put up even modest numbers under Coach K, he would probably have gone in the early 20s in the draft.

He could be a steal.

I think this works both ways - he went to Duke (a feat in itself) but was trash there for two years and couldn't work his way into the rotation (his sophomore numbers are particularly gross). I'm not sure he would have ever been draft-worthy if he had stayed at Duke given the trajectory of his progress.

That said, he could be a steal  :)

Id wager that Duke is the trash.

Eek, that doesn't bode well for Tatum then either.

As long as he never fully bought in, I think we will be okay.  :)

So Semi is a potential MVP candidate for transferring?

Hah.  That almost makes too much sense.

Things are going to get pretty interesting around here if Semi gets minutes right off the bat and Jayson "Paul Pierce 2.0" Tatum rides the pine.

SemiO can play immediately. Great spot up 3 pt shooter and great defensively. Great pick by Ainge!

What's weird about him is that he can spot up or pick and pop.  Really odd skill set from a dude built like that.   Would be amazing if he could find a backup role as a power forward on this team.  Hell,  danny's due for some late round luck.

Given their performances in summer league, that seems pretty unlikely.

The match up that might be worth paying attention to, though, is Semi v. Yabu.

that, that might be a real battle. Yabusele will be better on offense, driving to the basket in particular. but Yabusele's defense is not supposed to be that hot right now. It may be the deciding factor in CBS' decisionmaking.

The Celtics really are a deep team in terms of credible NBA players. Congrats to Ainge.

[Celtics] Brad Stevens on Semi Ojeleye: "His flexibility defensively is going to be enormous." Says he can be one of C's better defenders right out of the gate.

I believe Stevens forgot to add, "for the Red Claws."

Well, I'm gonna go right ahead and say it:

We have found our Draymond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm, they're not even remotely similar players, imo.

It's ridiculous to compare Semi to Wallace. But Wallace was the best defensive/rebounding center of his era and should have been a Celtic for life, and he was only 6'7 or so.

Check him out next to 6'9 Bill Russell. He's not even as tall as the Man, even with his afro.

Just thought that I would add that part.  I really wish that we had signed him after Phoenix bought him out or whatever after the Shaq trade in 2009.  Him and Garnett together, plus Sheed, would have been awesome, imo.  Sigh.

Semi has the right coach he will flourish right out of the gate, an enforcer that can shoot three's out of the bench, I'll take it!!!!

I think one thing is clear with Semi - he can switch on everyone.  Will be interesting to see if he can handle the Wall/Kyrie types on a switch.

Him and Marcus on the floor at the same time though....I'm giddy.
