[Celtics] Brad Stevens on Semi Ojeleye: "His flexibility defensively is going to be enormous." Says he can be one of C's better defenders right out of the gate.

I'm really surprised and impressed by Ojeyele. Great defensive potential, excellent lateral movement, can guard so many position... Remind me Ron Artest. He has to improve offensive game. Brad is going to use him a lot

Could surpass Crowder as our 3 n D guy thus having him getting traded an giving more cap space to sign IT etc

Though that won't happen just yet, would be great if he could by seasons end

Brown, Tatum and Ojeleye have wonderful versatility

Can't wait to see how CBS will utilize them

Well, I'm gonna go right ahead and say it:

It would be nice to find a Diamond in the late rounds. Jabari Bird looked good last night to me, too.

He's out there guarding centers.  Brad must giddy thinking about playing him in small ball.

How tall did he actually measure?  Some places say 6'9,  other 6'7.    I was thinking a little Ben Wallace like,  but not if he's only 6'7.

Physically, Artest is a pretty good comp. But what made Artest was his intensity (and, of course, that's what hurt him a lot too). Does Semi have that kind of motor?

I'm as impressed with his 3 point shot as much as anything.

6'7" in shoes, 6'9" wingspan, 8'6" standing reach.  Same height as Draymond, approximately, but Draymond's wingspan is over 7 feet, leading to a 8'9" standing reach.  Some people say Ben Wallace was only 6'7" tho.

Remember that Ben Wallace was the league's best rebounder and shot blocker for several years? There's no comparison to be made other than their biceps.

I really liked the pick.  But we're comparing a guy to former all stars before he's done anything to prove he's a rotation player at this level.

One of two guys to win DPOY four times. The man was an absolute beast. Semi has a long way to go before he's on that level.

Although Big Ben did go undrafted, so who knows what will happen.

Funny how that works.

I'd be happy with contributor.

It's ridiculous to compare Semi to Wallace. But Wallace was the best defensive/rebounding center of his era, and he was only 6'7 or so.

Check him out next to 6'9 Bill Russell. He's not even as tall as the Man, even with his afro.

Semi went to Duke and then transferred to SMU.  If he had not transferred, and had put up even modest numbers under Coach K, he would probably have gone in the early 20s in the draft.

He could be a steal.

I think this works both ways - he went to Duke (a feat in itself) but was trash there for two years and couldn't work his way into the rotation (his sophomore numbers are particularly gross). I'm not sure he would have ever been draft-worthy if he had stayed at Duke given the trajectory of his progress.

That said, he could be a steal  :)
