I don't know if Zizic will ever be a big time starter, but this post made me think.

What if he was on the 76'ers instead? He would never get any better being surrounded by a bunch of young guys who are clueless and losing.

At least he is here and is playing with people who want to win and know how.

Kid wants to be good...that's a start.
Not to go too far off-topic, but I think the sixers are going to find out this season that this is one of the big downsides to full tank mode.  Embiid, Simmons and Fultz are all great prospects but I bet they don't improve as much as Tatum, Brown and Zizic who are in a much better environment for learning from all-stars.

The only thing we know for sure from Zizic's summer league play is that Danny is obsessed with drafting slow, unathletic big men.

I wouldn't get your hopes up... Unless you're hoping for a Tyler Zeller replacement.

I think he is the Tyler Zeller replacement this year. Zizic boxes out and plays a physical brand of basketball. He will be good in certain match ups. He has a high motor and will ware on some of the big centers in the league...

Yeah.  He will play about 10-15 mpg I think and on some nights it'll dip down like Zeller's would when the team goes all small.  In the regular season Stevens is not all small ball.

Frankly, he just needs to learn to play within his limitations, and do a great job of boxing out. That is really all we need from a back up big for this team.

I have tempered my expectation that he someday could be Al Horford's replacement as our starting big. Just can't picture that ever occurring.

In that case, I imagine Baynes takes all his minutes.

The actual way he would get minutes on this team is by hitting the outside shot while also grabbing rebounds, something Baynes can't do.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Then why did Amir start and play so much last year?  Or why was Zeller in the rotation at all?

Amir Johnson is a career 34% three-point shooter. Whether he shot a lot of threes last season or not, he CAN hit  the outside shot.

Zeller didn't really play until everyone else was either injured or played themselves out of the rotation...

Come on you are reaching hard here lol.

He played because Stevens needs a big man or two out there even if he likes to play small.  That is going to be the same this year.  Even if Stevens likes other things from other positions, he still needs guys who rebound and play inside to play at times.  Al is not a full time C and wasn't used that way last year at all.

He needs to stay inside and keep the ball off the wood!

But the team explicitly stayed away from adding a big man who didn't have "skills". I'm fully convinced Amir mainly played because he could pass and shoot in a pinch, and everything else was gravy.

Unless you're hoping for a Tyler Zeller replacement who is is literally the exact opposite of Zeller in every meaningful way.

Just so you're aware, in his unofficial presser discussing the players in summer league, Brad Stevens shared pretty much the direct opposite of this view, so I think I'll go with what he said.

Could you describe the similarities between what Zizic does and what Tyler Zeller does?

Didn't think so.

Looks to me like other guys need to adjust to Ante's style of play.
