@Jvalin @ForzaJuve

Your positions are closer than you think. Ainge had no leverage as soon as Hayward agreed, but he had leverage before that, so there was no hurry to make this trade on draft night.

Also, I think Morris and his contract is a better and safer retunr than a draft pick as part of our "win now and later" approach. He is only cost-controlled for two years, yes, while a draft pick would be four... But Morris gives you a valid player, average PF starter which was a position of extreme need for us, regardles of our ability to sing anyone with the exception.

To sum up, we are sad see Bradley go. Very sad, indeed. But once Hayward agreed and we were in a hurry to trade anyone, it's not as bad a return as people say. In fact, Morris' and Crowder's are two of the best contracts in the league not counting rookie-scaled ones. And this is vital for us to extend IT next summer (I am not very fan of this, depending on money, but I admit we should do it) and keep balance of our cap due to Hayward + Horford making 60 million.

All in all, we keep our main assets for the future after these transactions: Brown, Tatum, Smart, Zizic and the Nets '18, LAL '18 or SAC '19 and MEM '19 or beyond. Even more "marginal" assets such as Rozier and Yabusele have been retained.

Let's keep in high spirits, mates.

don't love it .  Haywood is on board now,  something had to give.   Danny could not have traded pieces until he has Gordons commitment.  Then the rest of the league know they got you over a barrell and got got to drop assets.  AB was set for,his career payday , he has it comming , Celtics can't compete and give it to him. He was facing leaving most likely anyway.

Given the timing and difficult situation the trade solved the Hayward problem.  AB is part of the assets lost to obntain Hayward.  Which overall seems acceptable in a sad way.
Put more simply, would you have done this trade?

Bradley and a 2nd rounder for Hayward and Morris

All day.
More like Bradley + Olynyk (at 12.5 million per year) + second rounder for Hayward + Morris

All day for sure.

That being said, there is no doubt in my mind that Detroit won the Bradley trade. Danny had no leverage in trades for AB, but that's 100% his fault. He should have planned ahead. We all knew the C's had to trade one of AB-Smart-IT cause we couldn't just resing all 3 of them. If Danny believed AB was the odd man out, he should have traded him much earlier than he did (regardless of what would happen with Hayward). For instance, according to Woj, the Sixers were interested in Bradley at the trade deadline.

Sources: Philadelphia searching for defensive-minded guards to play with Ben Simmons. One target: Boston's Avery Bradley. No traction.

Given that we were in no rush to trade him at the time, it's only logical to assume that we would be negotiating from a position of strength. Heck, I bet we could do AB for Saric + second rounder. Whom would you rather have? Morris (on a 2-year bargain contract) or Saric (on a 3-year bargain contract)?

The Sixers are not going to trade Saric for a possible rental. That's not possible.

Basketballwise it makes some sense but chemistry questions are huge--this could really blow up in a negative way.  Same questions as Perk for Jeff Green which just did not work out.  Not saying it was wrong but it presents a real risk to team dynamics/attitude.
