If I punch someone in the face for texting my mother inappropriately does that make me a bad guy?

This is my idea of what happened from what very very little I have gathered.
Yes, solving issues by punching someone in the face typically makes you a less than desirable individual in my book.

Smart did it in game for a guy who yelled racist garbage at him and it's pretty clear he's not a "knucklehead."  If this guy texted racist or sexist things to Morris' mother (which we don't know), I agree it's out of line but I'm not writing off his whole character over it
Oh, it is then? I must have missed the memo :)

Did Smart get with 4 other guys and beat the crap out of the fan on the floor?  I don't think so, he went into the stands to try and shut him up, he wasn't charged with assault.  These two things are NOT any where near the same.
That, and Smart is a bit of a knucklehead...

That's my book too.  But having known many people who've engaged in violence, they (and circumstances)  are not all the same.  Some have character flaws, some are impulsive but learning, some make mistakes which sometimes are promoted through different culture/values than my own.   I definitely don't like the decision he made, but I can't say that I now know enough yet to judge his character.

I pretty much agree with all you said.  But, if it turns out he is guilty and convicted then are we happy with this trade?  Maybe Roy can tell us if a conviction would mean jail time or maybe just probation?  I have no idea.

There are a lot of ways sentencing could be handled in that instance:

* It could be dropped down to a misdemeanor via plea, resulting in a likely fine (and perhaps a financial settlement in the pending civil suit);

* Morris could be sentenced to probation, with jail time "suspended" if he complies with his probation conditions;

* He could be sent to jail or prison, ranging from days to years;

* He could enter into a deferment, under which charges (and potential sentences) would be dropped or reduced if he meets certain conditions.

Thanks Roy.

Also, I'm smarts biggest fan, but the dude didn't say anything racist.

We can be certain it will all be worked out. It's not a concern.

I honestly think Marcus has matured quite a bit since his OkieState days.  I don't really think he is truly a knucklehead anymore.

I'm just saying, if they got Cousins and took a risk on him too, a lot of our problems would have been solved too (2nd scorer, rebounding, interior presence/defense, etc).

I know, it's over, but it's something I'll keep looking back at.

Should've traded for Cousins back in February, huh Ainge.

Adding a headcase big into our team now?

Sorry, but contrary to most opinions here, the Celtics had NO leverage at all. So they had to take one of the first proposals that enabled us to sign Hayward. Also, we have a GREAT contract in return for the next two seasons and we can use the player or trade him down the road.

If we have almost-30-million contracts on Horford and Hayward (not superstars, remember), we have to keep good contracts (Crowder or Morris) and many rookie deals to make the salary cap work.

So I don't think this situation can be compared to Cousins' as we had to take any deal right now. And I love Bradley and hate to see him go, but that's business. And we've gotten a tremendous contract in return.

I don't know I'm easy to get along with and people seem to like me but I've resolved issues in a much more harsh way than that. Guess you don't like me.  :'( ;)

he's certainly matured a bit.

Even if he is a knucklehead I don't want him to change, he's my favorite player and it's not even remotely close.

Which one of the Twins is older? If memory serves the one in Washington was a few years younger.
