Well that is a bit sad. I guess Avery made a better choice than Crowder because Crowder is under contract for a few more years. Help balance the books with quality depth moving forward.

I hope Jaylen or Smart starts at SG next year. Let Hayward stay at SF.

Use Crowder as a 6th man.

Yes, for sure. I'd love to see Jaylen earn the starting role, but Smart might start the season there.

Horford / Theis / Zizic
Morris / Crowder / Yabu
Hayward / Tatum / Nader
Smart / Jaylen
IT / Rozier / Jackson

That team needs more experience on the bench, and an additional big man who can play, but it's a really fun team.

AGAIN making sense!

I like that line up, Smart can play with IT, Hayward and Horford and be a defensive monster and not have to try to create offense. He fits well showing his strengths and hiding his weakness.

I think Smart comes off the bench and runs the second unit.  Brown or Crowder (moving Hayward down to SG) move into the starting lineup, giving us better shooting and size in the starting lineup
I'm bitter.

At least now in the playoffs, if Marcus Morris gets injured, we can put Keef in and no one will notice.

Hate to see Bradley go but I think rozier can become just as good as Bradley and is cheaper. Get a decent big back not a bad return for somebody that wasn't going to be on this team next year.

Avery Bradley = terrific two way player who improves every season

Marcus Morris = undersized medicore PF who doesn't rebound or defend well for his position

nice trade, Danny....

Avery = pending free agent with injury concerns at a deep position

Morris = on a bargain contract; has missed six games total the past four seasons

I'll miss AB, but something like this had to happen.

I was under the impression that Danny Ainge is the kind of guy who didn't make trades unless he was on the winning end. The fact that AB is good enough to warrant a $25 million deal should tell you that he should fetch more in return than Marcus Morris. The Thunder got the pieces they needed to trade to trade for Paul George by giving up Ibaka who had a year left on his deal...

Nothing about Morris excites me outside of his durability. A PF who shoots 40%? Im hoping that will change since he'll be playing on a talented team for the 1st time in his career but my expectations are very tempered.

He may warrant it but someone has to pay it and I think the C's realize they can't so you get something for a player you are going to lose and fill a void.

Love the move. Morris will be a perfect fit. He was just in a bad situation in Detroit.
Perfect fit averaging 4.6 rebounds per 32.5 minutes??
The Celtics brass just can't control themselves at the sight of a 6'9 or taller guy who can shoot a little bit but can't rebound to save his life. Thoroughly hate the idea that Morris may be the best PF on this team on opening day.

Maybe the staff is confident that Tatum can supplant him quickly enough (hey, I'm grasping at straws here!).

I told you we had little leverage until we badly traded one of our three "expendable" players. And people was thinking the other way. Time was running out and Hayward has already given up some money to sign here. After all, it's not a bad trade given we obtain a starting-caliber PF.

I hate seeing Bradley go, my favourite Celtic last years  :'( :'(

Marcus Morris : ugggghhhhh 14ppg and 5rpg

And read below from wikipedia ... particularly note pending court date.
On February 26, 2012, after seeing the final Border War basketball match between Kansas and Missouri, Morris and another assailant named Julius K. Harris received battery charges for punching a man that was an employee for a bar and nightclub in Lawrence, Kansas called The Cave. Both Morris and Harris entered a diversion agreement for the battery charge, with Marcus paying a $300 diversion fee and $60 for court case fees, as well as agreeing not to come in contact with both the victim and The Cave for an entire year.[28]

On January 24, 2015, both Marcus and Markieff Morris found themselves involved with two aggravated assault cases as five different men (including the twins and former Baltimore Ravens safety Gerald Bowman) allegedly assaulted a 36-year-old man named Eric Hood outside of the Nina Mason Pulliam Recreation Center in Phoenix, Arizona.[29] Hood had previously mentored the Morris twins from high school until the end of their college careers, while the brothers wound up beating Hood up for "sending an inappropriate text message" to their mother. While the case against the Morris brothers was first set up on August 3, 2015;[30] the trial for the twins is still ongoing for the latest court date being settled on August 21, 2017, thanks to his twin brother playing in the NBA playoffs on the original court date of April 28.[31][32] The incident was not only considered a catalyst for the Suns trading Marcus to the Pistons on July 9, 2015;[33] but it was also one of the reasons why the Suns eventually traded his twin brother to the Washington Wizards over eight months later on February 18, 2016.[34]

Went to college with the Twins.  All I can say is buckle up!
It's been a while since the Celtics have had someone capable of making headlines off the court and after hours.  Key is not to have too many on the roster at once...lol

Immediate Reaction:

1.  Hate to see my favorite Celtic go.

2.  A guy who can shoot 3s, move & score without dominating the ball and guard 1s is impossible to replace.  Bradley is a unique talent.

3.  Having said that, McMorris is on a great contract and a guy I would have wanted to trade for in general.

I really hope we package Morris and Crowder to bring back a quality big.

Woj said two other teams were interested in Bradley. If that's the best deal it could get it's just sad. Might have been better off just waiving him.

I hope not. When Smart is on the floor with the second unit he tends to shoot more which is bad for the team.

Okay, so HOW does the money part workout again?  I know someone suggested that Det adds a scrub to balance things but we need to shed salary remember.  So anyone added needs to have a voidable contract else it doesn't make sense.

Or just keep him this year and let us have a great year and let him go into free agency.

nice trade, Danny....

This wasn't necessarily a trade for talent  (see salary situations).

True, but the eval of MM seems spot on. I am trusting in Danny to have another trade or FA pickup in the works, because otherwise we're going to be really, really, really thin on bigs. Bringing Gordon Hayward in is a waste if we fall apart down low.  Because, Cleveland...
I hope so, and I hope it means Crowder is out too.  I like the guy but his talent level is just not up to par with the other starters.
