Anyone else surprised at how litle Dion Waiters got for his contract? How do you think it affects our guards (AB, IT, Smart)?

No, Waiters couldn't get hardly anything in free agency last year.  He has a good half season, but a lot of teams certainly remember his first four seasons of chucking, and were likely wary of giving him a big deal.

It's still starter money -- it's just not top-3-on-a-team money.  And that seems correct to me.

No, Waiters couldn't get hardly anything in free agency last year.  He has a good half season, but a lot of teams certainly remember his first four seasons of chucking, and were likely wary of giving him a big deal.

It's still starter money -- it's just not top-3-on-a-team money.  And that seems correct to me.

I was surprised he got so much. I was fully expecting him to settle for one year, big money from someone like the Lakers.

Yeah but they're a whole bunch of small trades for relatively inconsequential pieces other than 12 months of Paul George.

Considering he traded Ibaka for that Sabonis/Oladipo pack and signed Oladipo to that giant deal 12 months ago, he then flipped all that for a rental that isn't really going to achieve much going into the future.

OKC are going to be in a world of hurt next offseason when Westbrook and George walk out the door.

A lot of small moves make a difference. Taking on Tyler Zeller in a salary dump was a small move; we have Isaiah Thomas because of that small move.

It's a gamble he has to take unfortunately. Not putting another star around Westbrook guarantees that Westbrook leaves. I think Presti is hoping PG and Westbrook will feel something about this team and want to stay.
