Offering Randle is a joke. He is due to be a restricted free agent and isn't that good. Indiana shouldn't move PG for less than a lottery pick. The Lakers are trying to trade for PG because they think there is a chance he won't sign with them, especially if he manages to make all NBA ans gets a super max offer from Indiana.

I think Bird is still a consultant for Indiana he's not dumb. He knows PGs value.
do you seriously think indiana will get fair value for george? He has publicly said he wont play for any team except LA. if you understand the concept of leverage, that means indiana has zero leverage and LA calls the shots in the deal

Lakers, per sources, engaged Sacramento in talks that would have sent the 2nd pick to the Kings for Sac’s two 1st-rounders (5 and 10) (1/2)

Lakers would have then packaged one of the Kings’ picks w/27 & 28 along w/player in offer to Indy for Paul George. But Kings said no (2/2).

If Bird was still in control over at Indy. The way things are going, I would have said he's trying to get LA to get rid of as many good assets before sending PG13 to Boston for peanuts just to F Magic over one more time. lol

Wow. So the Lakers were willing to pass on Ball or Jackson for a player who has repeatedly stated he is signing with them next summer anyway?

I'm also surprised the Kings didn't take that deal. I guess the rumors that we would trade #3 for 5 and 10 are not true.

I'd rather flip George for Love and see what Love can bring me back at the deadline next season then settle for that dookie sandwich the Lakers are offering.

Also, I imagine the Kings could get a better deal from Ainge  for the 5 and the 10.  We can throw in a late first or multiple 2nds for only one spot back.  And they can still draft Jackson

Seems they happen to agree with many of us on here and those like Woj - hard to see him walking from a loaded Boston or Cleveland team to join the hapless Lakers. They want this done now to ensure he stays.

Yes, although in addition his cap hold will be less than the max, so they'd gain some extra room to sign an additional (max) free agent next summer.  Only about $2 million, but that could be an important $2 million next summer.

Interesting.

I also imagine that the extra 5th year that LA will be able to offer him at the max is a driving motivation to both sides: for LA to have him under control another year and for PG to make quite a bit more money.

I think that's the primary reason his camp has been trying to discourage trades elsewhere. He stands to make a substantial amount more by being traded there now rather than signing in the offseason.

Strong belief around #NBA that Paul George will be traded Thursday, day of draft. Where, though, no one knows. #Pacers

We have two more days of this in line, folks!

Sounds like they're going to do as much as they can to up their offers from other teams and ultimately take the best offer. It'll be interesting to see if the Lakers break down and trade one of Ingram or the 2nd pick.

That is not my understanding.  Here's the most prominent example, but he's been accused of being a plagiarizing hack who makes some things up more than once.

With the way PG13 is treating Indy I hope they take a little less from someone else just to cost him that extra year and extra money when he inevitably signs with the Lakers as a free agent.  Sure it is petty and vindictive but he deserves petty and vindictive.

And they can offer him 5 years and more money, which if you are a player matters a great deal to you.  George is pushing for the Lakers trade now for that exact reason.

George trade no longer considered "imminent" before the draft.

Good news for C's fans who still want to possibly take a chance with a George trade AND for our Lakers pick. As of now, it doesn't look like Indy will take that poo poo platter offer for George, and it gives us more time to make other deals before considering George.

Puts a lot of pressure on the Lakers to either up their offer to include the 2nd pick or Ingram or roll the dice and believe they can sign George no matter what next offseason. All indications are that LA won't budge, which I think is dumb, but that will really help our LA pick.

$50 Million more for a super max is pretty good leverage and I think the LAL doesn't believe that signing PG in free agency is a slam dunk or they wouldn't be trying to trade for him now.

Randle and 27 or 28 is basically giving him away, especially if the Pacers have no intention of resigning Randle.  They are probably willing to wait until the trade deadline and gambling that a contending team is willing to make a better offer than what is effectively an offer for the 27th or 28th pick and a 1 year rental on a marginal player.
